I also get a kernel panic without WEG. This is with a Radeon VII.

With just the kext and no SSDT I get much better synthetic scores without any extra fan noise. Tomorrow I have some real work to do and will check actual speeds.

Hey all.

Taking a poll - how many of you are successfully using Catalina on the Designare with a >/= 4K monitor on any dedicated graphics card without any system freezing or crashing? As in, you’ve never had any issues at all.

I'm actually running dual LG 27 inch 4k on 10.15.4 with 5700 xt Pulse no problem. Have not had a single freeze or crash so far after disable 1.2 DP on my monitor setting. Both connected through DP.

Hi guys,
I would like to update Catalina and the kexts.

Indeed, I have a problem with sound when I watch a video. There is some sizzling, and after 10 seconds, the sound stops and come back with sizzling, It happens on youtube or VLC, quicktime… Besides, it goes out of sync with video (on youtube)
I use headphones with jack plug.

This problem doesn't appear on Windows, which is installed on other hard drive (same computer)

- i9-9900K (CPU)
- Z390 Designare
- RX 5700 XT Nitro Sapphire - 8GB (GPU)
- 64 GB DDR4 -  Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Case 15 - 3000 Mhz
- Samsung Pro 970 - 512 GO
- Sabrent - 1TB
- Fenvi T919

How can i have the last others/Kext version and how can i update them?

Hello everybody...
Need some help over here.
After trying the kext for vega and not getting big differences I returned to the original configuration, with no extra kext and aml file. After start getting messages of HD not properly ejected...Tried to run the kext utility and now can not boot it. Using a Backup I could run but on limited way (BT is not working as before), so before trying to start from scratch again any ideas??

Good to know! Can you please clarify:

• After setting both monitors to DP 1.1 (via on-screen menu in the monitor) the dual-monitor system started to work again (even at 4K 60)?
• What is the make/model of the monitor(s)?

• After I disabled the setting, both monitor worked perfectly with no lags or stutters at 60hz (according to system report). Haven't seen any freezing or crashing so far. Even netflix safari, apple tv+, prime and hardware acceleration all worked without shikigva=80 (DRM did not work before no matter what I tried, only showed black screen with sounds). This is on 19,1 with iGPU enabled
• My monitors are LG 27UK850W and LG 27UK650W
• I've attached the screenshots

During boot, and consistently. I switched back to using just the kext with WEG. It's quiet and has the improved performance (according to Geekbench).

Please note that the update from 10.15.3 to 10.15.4 has not been smooth for everyone.

Updating kexts
Before updating to 10.15.4, you need to update your kexts as indicated in your screenshot.
You can update your kexts by downloading the latest versions from Acidanthera's Github site. There's a repository for each of the kexts you need.

Spoiler: How to update kexts

• Find the repository for the kext you want to update (repository name matches name of the kext, e.g. WhateverGreen) and find the releases link near the top of the page.
• On the releases page, find the latest version near the top of the page and download the {kextname-version}-RELEASE.zip file.
• Unzip and find the kext-file.
• Open your system's EFI/Clover/kexts/Other folder.
• Delete the existing kext you want to update, empty trash, then copy the downloaded kext to same location.
• Repeat the proces for each kext.

Since you've followed the the Mini-Guide for Fresh Installation of Catalina 10.15.1 and newer, your system is already correctly configured for the update. Clover 5114 is good, OcQuirks 15 is also fine.

Backup!
I strongly advice you to make a full bootable backup of your working 10.15.3 system first, so you can always boot and go back if the update fails. You'll kill yourself if you get stuck and did not make a backup!

See the Easy Bootable Backup section in post #1, and follow the guide to make a backup.
Make sure to TEST if you can boot your system from the backup, before continuing the update.

Now that you have a working bootable backup, read and follow the MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 Update Guide by @CaseySJ.
