[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks Casey,

I have quite a few Nvme drives around so no problem with that.
Your experience here and other members is invaluable to say the least. I was sooo thinking that this upgrade method is just asking for glitches and No Joy lol

Thanks for Verifying the Re-install answer.
I contributed $10.00 here just yesterday and wonder if it shows anywhere in our account? I love final cut and Logic so will do whatever it takes to keep this forum alive and pumping

  • This file will be over 8GB. Copy the file to the Applications folder.
  • Now you're ready to begin the Catalina 10.15.4 fresh installation.

Mighty Nice of you @CaseySJ

Just to clarify, I didn't want you to think I was that dense hahaha!
I meant I was sooo thinking that the micro guide from Mojave to Catalina followed by Catalina Mini guide install, was just asking for trouble NOT what you recommended which seems very streamlined and full proof, if one does not skip a beat! Thanks once again Casey :D

You can likely modify the PP table in the SSDT to get the fans to slowdown a bit and they they will be less loud.
Its also been noted that the power profile could be implemented via property injection rather than SSDT. This seems more flexible but I'm not clear on exactly how to inject the power table through device properties. It doesn't seem to do that much anyway.

Hi @CaseySJ - it's me again. I have another question - this time on Bluetooth.
I bought a Keychron K1 keyboard which is both USB and wireless via Bluetooth. Whenever I try to discover this keyboard on the Hackintosh, it is not able to find it. I am able to find the keyboard on other Mac devices such as my iphone/ipad and MacBook pro. I am also able to find other Bluetooth devices on the hackintosh such as Bluetooth speakers. Keychron K1 keyboard Bluetooth is type 3.0.
I have the fenvi BCM4360 AC1200.
Is there some setting or something that I might be missing on my Hackintosh for this issue?

Radeon booster results with apps and GB on RadeonVII 10.5.4
Tested with WEG enabled and shikigva=80. No changes to config other than adding kext/ssdt. Netflix/safari and prime/chrome working. Projects are from my my workflow. Observed 30-35 % improvement in benchmarks and 5-15% improvements in project rendering. Fans are louder with the ssd active, but not unbearably loud.

config GB4 OpenCL GB5 OpenCL GB5 Metal Motion Render 4k Resolve 8 nodes Premiere timeline
No kext 150750 51882 57100 8:27 5:58 6:18
Radeon Booster 220000 71000 92000 8:01 5:06 5:54
Booster + SSDT 223600 79000 92844 7:40 5:00 5:55
Those are pretty good results especially when they came for free!

I am lazy, so I just dropping the SSDT in my folder and enabling it worked fine and my fan ramps up and down just like it did before I put the kext in.

The Keychron K1 is my favorite keyboard so far because:
  • Mechanical keys
  • Real Mac keycaps and real Mac function keys
  • Both wired (over USB-C) and wireless over Bluetooth
  • RGB (yes you can turn it off)
  • Comes in both full-size and ten-key less versions (prefer the ten-key less version myself)
I have two of them, v1 and v2. Another two family members each have the v3. They connect very well as you can see.
  • On the front side of the keyboard are 2 switches:
    • Switch on left toggles between macOS keys and Windows keys.
    • Switch on the right has 3 positions: left=wired, middle=off, right=bluetooth.
      • Ensure that this switch is toggled to the far right.
  • Press and hold fn and either the "1", "2" or "3" key simultaneously until the Bluetooth icon begins to blink.
  • Then it's pair-able in System Preferences --> Bluetooth.

YES that keyboard - I just got it (v3) and was super excited!

I did those exact settings multiple times. I am able to discover it on my iPhone and other devices, but not my hackintosh. I am able to discover other Bluetooth devices on hackintosh though.

Everything seemed to work properly for my Bluetooth with the card that I have, until this which initially led me to think it was an issue with the keyboard, but after seeing it pair fine to other devices, I'm thinking it is a hackintosh issue.
