The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Can I the same Plist?
Download the one attached at the end of post #1 and use that. Change the SMBIOS to 15,1 post install just like you did before. If you want the same serial numbers just copy and paste them from the previous .plist.

Sounds good, I will do that this weekend, after I backup some things from the Mac. However tonight I may mess with the 9010 with 710 Nvidia card for my Home PC. I will do a clean install on that one as well. Thank you again I will let you know how they go.

@trs96 Huge thanks for your guide, I succesfully used it on a 9020 w/ i7-4790 :)

I have a question about power management though, I observe CPU moving between 2-4GHz but never below that. According to this I am missing the SSDT, is this guide still the right way to install one?

On a different subject, please tell me the received wisdom on the build steps.
  1. Assemble with the motherboard in or out of the case?
  2. If switching to a newer retail case, which is better: to run the original case until no reliability issues remain, or damn the torpedoes and install immediately in the new case?
  3. I'm sitting on a wooden chair atop a cultured stone floor. The workbench is plywood. I am not wearing woolens. Do I really need an anti-static wrist band?
Many thanks!

It should get down to about .8 GHz with CPU PM enabled. I use PluginType and not the SSDT method for CPU PM. These are Haswell so using PluginType=True will work. Have a look at my IPG screenshot for the i7-4790. I find it amazing that an i7 can use such a small amount of energy at idle. Look at the temps with the stock cooler too.

1. I use outside.
2. Install immediately
3. No, not if you discharge static from yourself to the metal case.

I have that checked, but no luck. If you have time I attached my config.plist and screenshot of power gadget.
I'm not sure

The difference between your plist and mine is that you're using iMac 14,3 and I'm using iMac 15,1. I've also got an RX 570 installed and you're using igfx, HD4600. It's certainly fine to use that SMBIOS and igfx but it's not a perfect match for the 4790. I think that iMac 14,3 used the i5-4570S cpu. You could try temporarily changing to 15,1 by entering it via the Clover boot menu and seeing what happens.

Here's another thing to try. Leave it at 14,3 SMBIOS and uncheck the box for PluginType in Clover Configurator. See if the lowest frequency gets down to .8 and the power usage goes down too. Do the same thing with 15,1 too, see if it has any affect.

I tried 14,2 14,3 and 15,1 with PluginType checked and not. SMBIOS change made no difference, without PluginType min observed GHz was 1.7 and pluginType checked min observed was GHz 2.2. Not really sure what's going on.

When you're running IPG app are you sure that all other programs are fully quit ? Are there any external drives connected ? Hitting the .8 GHz low isn't that important the main thing is to reduce power usage of the CPU and functioning speedstep.

You can see that your Dram power draw is over 4,5W while mine is well below 1 at .83.
