I recently changed my GPU from a GTX 680 to a RT 5700 XT on Catalina 10.15.2. Performance is great, however my biggest concern is a lag/freeze/hang thingy that happens to my mouse. It cyclically freezes every 4 seconds for a short moment. USB doesn't seem to be the issue as it also happens on a Bluetooth mouse. I find that things get worse (longer freezes) when I connect my 4k display over HDMI. On DP the freezes would be VERY short, however still annoying. When I connect a 2k display over HDMI instead (using the same cable) the problem is gone. The problem seems to be 4k related. I am using WEG in pikera mode. Newest LILU, newest WEG. Like I said, the only thing I changed is the GPU. 4K worked flawlessly on the GTX 680.

I am using the iGPU (HD 4000) in headless mode now - before it was shut off. Did not change a thing. SMBIOS is iMac14,2.

Maybe try updating to Catalina 10.15.3

I also had short freezes, but not so often. I tried two different 5700XT cards, both with no luck getting them to work 100%. I spent so many hours trying to get it running, it sucks! I returned both of them and will go on with the iGPU again. For Windows I will use my RTX2080. Hopefully one day we will see macOS NVIDIA drivers.

Hi guys, I am having the same issue. Using a RX5700 XT connected via Display Port to a LG 5K display.
overall performance is great but every now and then my connected BT mouse (Logitech MX3) lags a bit. Even in Finder or when I browse the web. As said now always but from time to time.

has anyone figured this out?

I haven't but I can tell you about my findings:
1. problem does not occur when I connect a 2k display.
2. problem does not occur when I switch display to DP1.1 but I only get 30Hz then
3. problem is much worse when I switch to HDMI
4. Regardless, Metal score in Geekbench 5 is 60.000

I would love to try a different 4k monitor to see if it's something between the monitor and this specific display but I don't have another at hand atm. I also heard that the Navi drivers in Catalina are simply crap. Maybe that's the issue and all we need to do is wait for future improvements.

Does anyone know why the RX5700xt does not work without WEG=pikera? Shouldn't this GPU be natively supported?

My RX 5700 XT works without WEG. If using WEG though I have to use agdpmod=pikera or I get a black screen on boot. My GB5 Metal score is 75,000 after setting up Adder framebuffer injection.

I have mine connected to a 4K display using HDMI 2.0. I am using a wired Corsair mouse and I do not have any lag issues with it.

Interesting. Does it make any difference - performance wise - if you use WEG or not?
Is there a manual somewhere on how to setup 'Adder framebuffer injection'?
Also: I tried -wegoff as bootargument, but I got a black screen. Do I need to physically delete the kext? What about Lilu?
