[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

  • Hello, there should be some problems in my installation, now there is a problem with the sound, and you can only boot up with a usb flash drive, so I would like to ask if I can delete all the re-installation? How do I reinstall it?

Hi @CaseySJ ,

Tried enabling HS14 with no succes. Using latest clover. NVRAM reset also didn't help.
Kinda had a feeling about that. Please try this:
  • Replace SSDT-UIAC-DESIGNARE-Z390-V7.aml in the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder with the attached V8. Save the original file so you can revert back.

@CaseySJ Hey Casey have a off-beat question. What is a basis PC that I could get that has average speed GHZ and reasonable HD capability that I could convert to a Hackintosh... this is for a friend of my wife's that uses it for Internet, Email and loading pictures ... no frills no spills as they would say ... can you direct me to one ... friend is fed up with Windows HEHEHEH
This is tricky to answer because some PC manufacturers develop their own motherboards. Without having direct experience, I wouldn't want to suggest something that might or might not work well as a Hackintosh. So it might be best to browse the User Builds and Golden Builds to find something that meets your criteria.

At the top of Post #1 you will find links to several mini-guides. If you're installing Catalina, please see this:

Great question. Z490 is rumored to support PCIe 4.0 so it will certainly be interesting to wait for the release. If there's a Gigabyte Z490 Designare -- hopefully with two DP-In ports -- then it may be too tempting to pass up!

If you don't pass, i don't pass. :p

** Micro-Guide for Installing (Beta) Intel Bluetooth Driver by "zxystd" **

I followed your instruction and Intel Bluetooth works fine. It just works.
No problem paring with AirPods, Magic keyboard and mouse. I haven't tested Sidecar yet.

If you don't mind , would you mind testing the range of your mouse and keyboard with the intel Bluetooth? The Fenvi is a bit limited for me.

Hi @CaseySJ
With the new version of SSDT it works. Features are limited I suppose.

Does unlocking your Mac with a Apple Watch work? (If you have one can you check?)

Hey Legends!
I'm an audio engineer about to start my first hackintosh build based on the z390 designare. I'm hoping to have a dual boot system (windows 10 and catalina) so i'm not sure how much different the process is going to be (need to read more).

Before I dive in to the hack build I was going to set it up for windows first to enjoy the computer for awhile before I go deep. Is there anything people would recommend doing, especially with hard drives when building the computer straight up? Should I set up any specific partitions? I will have three 500gig Samsung SSD's, one of which is a 970pro m2 which i was planning on running the OS from.

My current computer is an older (2011) mac mini server edition, so I would love to be able to drop the SSD from that machine into this new build and not have to reinstall all my plugins and programs etc, but I don't think that's going to be possible?

Anyway I will be following your guide closely when it comes time to set up. So thanks for posting.

Luckily you are done! But skim through Going the Extra Mile just to see what's available in case a future need arises.

Do I need to set a headless Platform ID 0x3E980003? (my SMBIOS setting in OC is iMac19,1) And if I will need it, so how can I do that for OC? (your guide works fine for clover but will it working with Hackintool -> path... for OC too?)
