[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ,

thanks already for the help.
So I did the following (with no success to avoid any suspense):
  • agdpmod=pikera -> Reboot, checked all HDMI and DP, HDMI work fine, DP cuts out when MacOS starts up and the login window is shown.
  • agdpmod=ignore -> Reboot, checked all HDMI and DP, HDMI work fine, DP cuts out when MacOS starts up and the login window is shown.
  • agdpmod=vit9696 -> Reboot, checked all HDMI and DP, HDMI work fine, DP cuts out when MacOS starts up and the login window is shown.
  • Removed WEG from Clover/Kext/Other, added the two lines to ACPI patches -> Reboot, checked all HDMI and DP, HDMI work fine, DP cuts out when MacOS starts up and the login window is shown.
  • Connected my Mojave backup (taken 10 minutes before kicking of the update process for Catalina), F12 into Bootoptions to select BackUp, Clover directed to boot from Backup: checked all HDMI and DP and the all work fine, no hardware changes (didn't even move the cables from previous attempt to this one)
Also this is what kextstat | grep -v apple reported:

Any ideas?

BR
Marc
When you upgraded from Mojave to Catalina, did you follow this guide:
Because it looks as if you're using KGP's X299-based FakeSMC sensor kexts. It would be best to follow the above guide, but skip the steps for actually reinstalling Catalina. In other words, follow all the procedures that remove Hackintosh kexts from Mojave and create a new EFI folder on a USB flash disk. If Catalina can boot from that folder and your DP/HDMI functionality is okay, then you can copy the EFI folder from USB disk to the EFI partition of the Catalina SSD. Be sure to follow the steps that copy SMBIOS and RtVariables from Mojave config.plist to Catalina config.plist.

Good news! All parts have come. So I've got a brand new replacement motherboard and a brand new 9700K.

Thankfully the USB 2 header splitter also arrived, as well as the Fenvi BT/WIFI card. I'm going to assemble tomorrow, however a quick pair of questions if you don't mind:

  • Do I use the USB 2 internal header splitter, add the Fenvi card to a PCIe slot, connect a cable from the Fenvi card to the splitter and also connect the case's 1x USB 2 port to the header splitter too?
  • Or should I remove some of the above steps in order to not get into too many issues, at least till everything's installed?
Alright, back in business! I would proceed with full system installation -- i.e. install all components. Regarding the USB splitter, your statement is correct. Connect both items to the splitter and later we'll modify the USB SSDT accordingly. I will need a screenshot of IORegistryExplorer with HS11 and HS12 expanded.

I am having an issue where it appears all the sudden the Thunderbolt 3 / USB C ports stop working. I have restarted a few times, which fixed the issue the other day when it came up, but it doesn't seem to be solving the issue. I have my Universal Audio Apollo 8 interface connected and on before the computer turns on as that's how it usually connects and works. Any fix on the Thunderbolt?

That screenshot is 100% normal. It just means Thunderbolt Bus has not been activated. Check the System Information --> PCI page instead.

Some comments / questions:
  • Have you tried a different mouse temporarily? Perhaps even a cheap wired mouse?
  • Have you installed Logitech Options software for Mac? If so, is there a firmware update available for the MX Master?
  • Have you tried move the Logitech Unifying Receiver (the USB dongle) to a different USB port?

I tried an Apple Magic Mouse, unplugging the Logitech Receiver. No luck.
All Logitech software is up to date.
I don't think the problem is mouse related as the problem goes away when I switch to my 2k display OR switch my 4k display to DP1.1@30Hz.

Gotcha -- please see the additional screenshot.. It appears to be installed correctly, however I have reinstalled the audio interface driver and turned the system off and on multiple times and it will not connect.

Please advise! If it has nothing to do with the hackintosh itself, but rather the Interface, please let me know.

Maybe your Apollo has a TB1 Card in it? If so, it won’t work with this board.

The Apollo 8 has a TB2 card, and I use a TB2 to TB3 adapter to connect to the motherboard. I also just tried it with my mobile apollo twin (TB2 to TB3) and the computer isn't recognizing either. It is definitely something to do with the TB on the motherboard of the computer because both interfaces work completely fine plugged into my macbook pro.

I've been using the interface with the hackintosh for months now no issue, except that this has happened 2 times now with no explanation, and this time I can't seem to get it back online.

Also tried swapping cables and adapter.. no use on hackintosh

@CaseySJ so you can see this too
