The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Success! I’d like to thank @trs96 and all the community: got an Optimac up and running with Catalina 10.15.4! No major problems, all essentials are working.

There just one issue so far: when it goes to sleep (by itself or if I choose it) on wake up it reboots. Not immediately, but after some seconds in which everything is "normal". Then suddenly it reboots. I searched for a solution before asking here, but (probably my fault) I didn't find a straight answer.

I'm posting here what I believe is an error log provided by Catalina upon rebooting:

I'm also reporting my hibernation status after I set it to 0 (is it somewhat useful?)

Mine is a SFF Dell 9020, standard and plain, i-5 4690, 8 gb RAM, no video card, just a brand new SSD installed from which Catilina boots over SATA 0.

Is there a Good Samaritan who could point me in the right direction to solve this - only - issue?

I just got a 9020 USFF that I plan on installing Catalina on. I opened the case and found that it has ME Disabled(number 3 on a sticker, and confirmed in BIOS) . This is another machine other than the one in my profile. The machine is a 9020 USFF that has a inlet i7-4770S. Should the ME being disabled be a cause of concern?

Definitely because there is no PCIex16 slot for a graphics card. You have to use the HD4600 graphics.

Well I can't return this computer(long story) so should i play roulette on ebay with new motherboards?

They don't cost much so it's worth a gamble. You can always return it if need be. Good seller rating means you get service.

I usually buy from this seller on Ebay. 99.9% postive feedback on nearly 50,000 sales.

@MrTree Check the BIOS differences here - https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...overview-for-the-experienced-4k-ready.279108/ and check /var/vm/sleepimage is a folder (Not a file)

No luck. I did exactly as you said and modified BIOS setting. Problem is still there. It reboots, 4 seconds after being woken up after sleep. Do I have to modify config.plist in any way? Someone in another forum is hinting at HDMI audio, could that be involved?

Any other possible solution? Should I post some other log file?

You could try dropping in (or look at) the config.plist from the alternative thread and see if there is a difference. These do sleep well and Id check your build against the alternative thread build and that you have the latest kexts. The only issue with onboard video ports is that only one of them gives out sound and that hasnt caused sleep issues before.

Done that as well. Still no luck.

Also tried to add "No-hda-gfx" to my audio HDMI properties with AAAAAAA AA and layout 1, kernel panic stopped, but all audio, analog too, disappeared.

Any idea why?

SOLVED at last.

If any other encounters same issue... Use EFI folder as per @trs96 instructions. Change BIOS as requested here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...overview-for-the-experienced-4k-ready.279108/

Then make sure to edit your config.plist in CC as this:

Schermata 2020-04-09 alle 16.57.33.png

In other words you need to change audio (Realtek) properties's from "had-gfx" to "No-hda-gfx", setting Value as "AAAAAAAA AA" and leaving "layout-id" at 13.

With this you lose HDMI audio, but analog audio is still working great (I do not use HDMI audio, so all fine by me).

And no kernel panic after sleep.

Hope it helps someone else.

Thank you again for all the effort put in this forum. In the last few days I moved from complete newbie to (at least) semi-aware amateur. Lol.
