[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ it is version V7 (I uploaded a copy)--I didn't change any of these files when I updated the BIOS. The system had been working for months on the older BIOS. Very strange.
You're the second person to report this. @nifranza reported is back here. I'm using 0.7.1 right now without problem.

Do you have USBPorts.kext in the CLOVER/kexts/Other folder? Please post screenshots of these two folders:
  • CLOVER/ACPI/patched
  • CLOVER/kexts/Other

Hi @CaseySJ GetInfo on USBInjectAll.kext says Version: 0.7.1 => here is the kextstat output:

Update: I tried updating the USBInjectAll.kext in EFI/Clover/kext/Other to V0.7.3 and the Bluetooth is still not showing up.
I should have looked more closely. In that list, USBInjectAll is missing. It should appear like this:

Hi @CaseySJ Here are the screenshots. Do you have a pointer on how to debug why USBInjectAll is not loading?
If you're running Mojave, also post a screenshot of the /Library/Extensions folder and see if USBInjectAll.kext is also installed there. If so, please select Get Info in Finder and check its version number.

Hi @CaseySJ There is not a USBInjectAll in /L/E --I've uploaded a screenshot of /L/E and GetInfo from the /EFI/CLOVER/kext/other/USBInjectAll.kext

USBInjectAll should be copied to /Library/Extensions and then run Kext Utility to rebuild kernel cache. Reboot and check again...

Hi @CaseySJ Thank you so much for your help and advice. That worked. What I truly don't understand is why my system worked fine before the BIOS upgrade--presumable not having USBInjectAll.kext in /L/E should never have worked, yet it has worked for quite some time.
Anyway, it's all good now.

Next step: enable NVRAM and upgrade to 10.15.4

Thanks you, again, for your help and your speedy replies!!

After more troubleshooting and investigation I’ve narrowed all my long standing freezing issues to my monitors as part of my graphics setup.

Regardless of the the graphics card (tried 2 different 5700 xt and an RX580) the system will freeze when using either of my 4K monitors.

What I know now:

  • I cannot get the system to system to freeze when I only have my older 1080p monitor plugged in. This works from the DisplayPort to DVI adapter or HDMI to DVI cable.

  • My system will always freeze with just one of my 2 4K screens plugged in by HDMI to HDMI or by displayport to displayport.

  • if I lower the resolution on the 4K screen, it takes a little longer to freeze.

  • if I use an adapter cable (DP to HDMI) instead of HDMI to HDMI or DP to DP it takes even longer to freeze.

  • if I use an adapter cable and lower the resolution it takes even even longer (the longest) to freeze.
  • if I use some Frankenstein adapter setup (DP to dvi to HDMI) I get a max 1080p resolution, no audio pass through etc, then it never freezes.
So here I am wondering if it’s just my screens, or bad OS/graphics drivers, or WEG, or maybe the audio part of the signal messing things up.
This monitor does not support MST so that's good. There are several reports of problems with multiple monitors after updating to 10.15.4. We may need to wait for next WhateverGreen or downgrade to 10.15.3 from the backup.

I used macOS Catalina 10.15.2 with an AMD 5700 XT graphics card and I had no problems.

After updating to 10.15.4, I sometimes encounter the fact that my computer freezes and the sound is looped. This usually happens 5 to 10 minutes after turning on the computer, but not always.

I am using an LG 27UL850 monitor.

Did you manage to solve this problem?
