[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi all, been following this guide closely up to the point where I am booting into Mojave on the system drive for the first time and I’m getting a freeze. Any one have any ideas?

1) Are you sure you have either FakeSMC or VirtualSMC in your USB stick's .../clover/kexts/other/ folder?
2) If you are really using an Nvidia graphics card as in your signature, that won't work. Either internal graphics or an AMD graphics card.

@Gottgenk @faithie999

I just tried the same circuit and some minor variations, but this time without success. Using a Pomona 5250 clip I was able to read the chip repeatedly and consistently yesterday afternoon and early this morning. All of the checksums matched as well.

Interestingly, the circuit also worked yesterday on an ASRock motherboard with on-board Titan Ridge. That particular board has been even more difficult to read than the Designare.

Anyway, will add a caveat to that circuit post.

VirtualSMC is where it should be. I will attempt with onboard graphics. Thanks!

I've got forced power on F9b BIOS version. My TB3 works only with SDD but not UAD Twin Reverb MkII.
  • Are the latest macOS drivers installed?
  • Is the latest Twin Reverb firmware installed?
  • If you connect and power on the UAD Twin Reverb before booting, does it connect?

* I have update lasted drivers by EFI partition and Clover in .../other folder.

* Latest firmware on my Twin Reverb. (It's working on my MacBook Pro and update is done.)

* I connect before booting but nothing on Windows or macOS is OK.

Still no, the errors prior to freeze are all apfs related tho

Please do the following:
  • Insert the USB install disk
  • Reboot and press F12 during BIOS Splash Screen
  • When the BIOS Boot Menu (not Clover Boot Menu) appears, select the USB flash disk
  • When the Clover Boot Menu appears, select Boot macOS from Mojave
  • Does the system boot up?
If the system boots up, continue as follows:
  • Login to Mojave
  • Mount EFI partition of the Mojave internal SSD
  • Compress and upload the CLOVER folder from the EFI partition
  • Use Finder to go to /Library/Extensions as follows:
    • In Finder, press SHIFT-CMD-C to jump to the "Computer" folder
    • Go into the Mojave folder (if the named of your SSD is "Mojave")
    • You will find Library so go there
    • Now you will find Extensions so expand that and capture/post a screenshot
      • We can capture a screenshot by pressing CMD-SHIFT-5
      • Screenshot will be saved to Desktop
