pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

One extra finding, USB installer can be booted with LILU 1.4.2 + WEG 1.3.7 + Clover R5105 so I decided to do a new installation on a spare SSD. The installation process went fine until it has to boot the second time. Then it loads Catalina from SSD and then it crashes with latest Lilu and latest WEG and Catalina 10.5.3.

Weird that Lilu 1.4.2 and WhateverGreen 1.3.7 works fine with Clover r5104 but not r5105...

I might wait for Clover r5106 to be released before updating.

Well it works with the installer. It doesn't work anymore when MacOS is installed and wants to boot.
I'm trying to find out what is causing the issue.

Well I did a comparison with your latest config and mine was a few iterations behind. I adjusted my config to be the same as yours and also tried with clover R5104 and it was working fine. Also updated to R5105 and this works without crashes. So I have now latest LILU Latest WEG and latest Clover.

I was missing:
  • change PPMC to PMCR
  • -no_compat_check
  • -vsmcbeta
  • debug=0x100
  • AppleALC Kernel Panic Fix
(it Saul Goodman)

I'm having trouble with H265 encoding & Final Cut Pro. Basically it's extremely slow. Files take far too long to complete. Guessing the system is using only the CPU and not the Radeon VII.

Some have suggested using system definition 19,1 & the iGPU. However, when I switch them both on, the system doesn't boot. If I disable the iGPU, the system will boot using 19,1...but that doesn't help H265.

My build is essentially the same as PastryChef...same motherboard, graphics card, EFI (attached here for reference).

Not sure what to troubleshoot...any suggestions? Or is there a better solution to get H265 working?

Try the latest Clover EFI attached to post #1. Change the system definition to iMac19,1 and enable IGPU in BIOS.

Thanks. I updated to the latest EFI...pretty much the same. Hangs during boot. If I shut off igpu, it boots normally.

Please boot in verbose with IGPU enabled and post a picture of where it stops.
