[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Did this happen when running a specific application or performing a specific task? If so, is the freeze repeatable under the same circumstances?
It feels pretty random honestly. In this case it happened right when I finished watching a youtube video but trying to reproduce it didn't work. Other freezes didn't seem to happen during any particular action.

Hi,

I've just installed a Ugreen T3 (just USB-C actually) to Ethernet with the included driver but it didn't show up in the network pref.
So I erased all the network pref, reboot. Then it show up I was able to configure it like said in the manual,
except that as you say guy the AVB is not supported. Actually the tick box don't even appears, so I guess I don't have much choice than getting the more expensive way; The sonnet PCI or the OWC TB3 :((

Sure, a dock can be used. Most but not all Thunderbolt 3 docks have two Thunderbolt ports, where one port connects to computer and the other is used for daisy chaining. If buying a dock, always check that it has a second Thunderbolt port (with the lightning logo).

thanks if want to use a pci/thunderbolt card is there one that works ?

@qthegaijin,

Very interesting post!!
  • Which tool did you use to flash the GC-Titan Ridge?
  • If you used a CH341A programmer, did you connect Pin 28 to 3V3 (Pin 2) of the AMS1117?
  • MacPro 5,1:
    • DSM2.Hackintosh is working on a modification to the Thunderbolt SSDT.
  • Gigabyte Z170X Designare:
    • The screenshot of 10.12.2 at RP05 does not actually show full Thunderbolt Bus. It does show that Thunderbolt is working in ICM mode (Intel Connection Manager).
      • I assume that the on-board Alpine Ridge firmware has not been patched? Is that correct?
    • If the Antelope Audio device works fully under Alpine Ridge with 10.12.2, then I'm curious why it fails with the same Alpine Ridge under 10.12.6?
    • I didn't realize that this motherboard has an on-board Alpine Ridge controller and a Thunderbolt header (THB_C) for an add-in-card! How nice...
    • With the modified firmware on the GC-Titan Ridge, your screenshot clearly shows Thunderbolt Bus, so it's good to see that it works when (a) connected via THB_C and also when (b) pins 3 and 5 are jumpered.
      • Do other TB3 devices work fully?
      • If you have a Thunderbolt 3 dock (most of them have Alpine Ridge chips inside), have you tried connecting the dock to GC-Titan Ridge and then connecting the Antelope device to the dock?

** Native NVRAM in Clover **
...
I have followed this guide closely to activate NVRAM on F9b bios.

Problem is - when trying "sudo nvram -p | grep TestVar" in terminal, it doesn't return anything. Guess that means NVRAM isn't working, right?

Are you running OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi or the newer OcQuirks/FwRuntimeServices? Please check CLOVER/drivers/UEFI folder.

Yes, I am only running OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi .

I may have to update the NVRAM guide... Please try switching to OcQuirks-4/FwRuntimeServices as explained here:
