[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Ok tried posting this elsewhere, but no success, maybe you guys can help. I can't update from 10.15.2 to 10.15.3.
I never seem to get the "install" option on clover, and I go through the process with two restarts, but the system stays at 10.15.2. I thought it might be related to multiple EFI’s, so I removed two bootable ssd’s, and removed the clover folder from the EFI of a second M.2 nVME. Tried both incremental and combo updates. Kexts all updated, clover is latest 5104, vanilla install, drivers updated, native NVRAM enabled. System is otherwise excellent. All works. SIP is disabled, tried it with SIP enabled, no love. Also tried disconnecting all usb's. Ran verbose mode but no help, nothing odd that I could see.

How can the Radeon VII benchmark 2.5 times faster than the rx5700xt? What SMBIOS was that? OS? Was that a dual test including CPU?
Out of interest I just ran the bog standard test on my machine as well, got a score of 50030 with my VII

-Its straight HDMI to HDMI
-An Asus PG27UQ
Your config.plist is seemingly okay. Nevertheless please try the attached version. Copy your serial numbers back into SMBIOS before use.

Some Tips:
  • You have one of the most fantastic 4K monitors on the face of the planet. But you're driving that Ferrari with the cheapest low-octane fuel?? :) You should use a discrete AMD GPU.
  • Ensure that you're using an HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 certified cable. The HDMI port on the rear IO panel is only capable of 4K at 30Hz (hence HDMI 1.4). This is another reason to switch to a discrete AMD GPU.
  • Also check that you have latest versions of Lilu and WhateverGreen.
  • However, it would be better to drive that monitor via DisplayPort instead because that is capable of 4K 60Hz.
    • Simply use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable such as this one.
    • Plug it into either of the two Thunderbolt/USB-C ports on the rear IO panel.

To update from 10.15.2 to 10.15.3, use System Preferences --> Software Update and let the system update itself. Each time it reboots, check if there's a disk volume at the Clover Boot Menu that says something like Boot macOS Install macOS from... If so, always choose that, but if not, choose the standard "Boot macOS from ...".

Thanks for responding - I have done that, installing from the system, as well as from update links provided in the forum, clover install option never comes up, so I have been booting in the standard fashion that you quote. You know, I haven’t seen this problem elsewhere, probably something in my osx system install, I think I will just go ahead and do a clean install, then hopefully it will be better in the next update.

Is there perhaps a setting in your config.plist (in the GUI section) that is hiding any disk volumes?

No, I made sure they all show. I know weird huh? I think it does need a fresh OS X system install - no worries, I will just do it on another drive, I bet this is within OS X itself

I too would love to see what everyone else is getting on benchmarks. We put a lot of work into getting these machines running smoothly, I'd like to know where my rig matches up to everyone one else's.

Here is my Geekbench 5.0 and Luxmark scores. GeekBench is what I'd like to see the most. I have no idea what people get when they overclock the i9 9900K in a Hackintosh. I tried overclocking a some but my Geekbench numbers never really change.

Hi
First of all I want to thank you a 1000 times for this impressive and awesome guide.
I have basically built the exact same system from the guide (except with i9-9900k) and it has been working flawlessly in every aspect for 2 months on Mojave 10.14.6.

However, I have now stumbled upon the very worrying statement from the maker of OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi.
It states that eventually this WILL damage your hardware.

I'm mixing a film right now so I am stressing the system pretty good. I can not afford to have it break on me right now, and I want to fix this free2000 thing right away. I'm on clover r5104.

From what I have found, I should need to simply copy the 3 files from OcQuirks Rev 15 (FwRuntimeServices.efi, OcQuirks.efi and OcQuirks.plist) from the catalina mini-guide to the drivers/UEFI folder, replacing the free2000 driver.

Is this correct?
I wanted to double check this because I really can't afford a screw-up right now. I see another user has just posted a question, my question is essentially the same because I'm also on Mojave.

Also, is there any chance that this may interfere with other stuff like shutdown, sleep, nvram... or is this pretty much done and tested safe?

Thank you very much!
