[solved] Lenovo Yoga 730-13IKB install High Sierra success

@dragonflylee works great, thanks for your effort and for keeping the EFI folder updated. Am also impressed with how well USB-C hotplug works. Best hackintosh I've ever had. The only inconsistency I'm experiencing is in connection with my external monitor (LG 38UC99).

3840x1600@60Hz only works if the laptop's screen is deactivated (lid closed), otherwise 30Hz only.

Also after a restart external monitor is limited to 30Hz again (even with lid closed), 60Hz are available after putting it to sleep and works from thereon until next reboot. Any ideas?

Guy how on earth were ya able to boot this system so easily???
Im puzzled, this is my setup differences
Lenovo Yoga 730-13IKB with
Bios 1.10
Drive SSD m.2 samsung PM981 stock with Windows 10 installed
everything else is the same.
Is there a default EFI folder just to install 1st time around then use @dragonflylee EFI thereafter?
tried clover loader via USB 3.0/ 2.0 -- USB-A port / USB-C port if it had another port I would try it also!1
Loaded once no active trackpad & flakey keyboard , (used a 4-port USB-A Hub)- started , formatted , then Blackscreened via @dragonflylee EFI. Never to achieve that stage again. Any Ideas

I have similar questions to @macbookpro361

1) Where do I copy @dragonflylee EFI folder into?

I have 2 partitions on my USB stick for my installer..
a) Clover EFI (has folders: EFI,EFI-backups, Library, usr)
b) EFI ( BOOTLOG File, EFI Folder)

Do I replace the EFI folder in both partitions?

2) Does my USB stick with the OS installer need a different EFI folder than the computer?

I noticed the instructions on Tonymacx86 stated required files here:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

But the EFI folder from dragonflylee is missing some of them. (e.g. HFSPlus.efi)

3) Do any files need to be recompiled for my specific Yoga 730 build?

For those of you with issues where the installer reboots abruptly while formatting the disk or writing files out, in any phase of the install, the Samsung drive that shipped with my 730-15IKB (15” variant of this machine) was causing the issue. I replaced the disk with another NVMe drive from a different vendor and everything started working immediately. Hopefully this information helps others in the future, as I struggled for two straight days of trying different Aptio memory fix files in vain trying to get my machine to stop spontaneously rebooting (-v and debug=0x100 would never give output at the time the reboots happened, so I had nothing to go on).

Which Samsung drive was it? I am trying to identify if only specific samsung drives have issues. For example, I heard the Samsung 970 Evo general works, but the Samsun 970 Plus does not. I am wondering if you have the plus or another version.

the EFI folder goes in the EFI partition on your hard drive, normally hidden

Did you ever figure it out?

What's the purpose of the other Efi folder?
Clover EFI (has folders: EFI,EFI-backups, Library, usr) normally from your usb installer

Clover EFI (has folders: EFI,EFI-backups, Library, usr) normally from your usb installer

See above, I clarified(edited) my question..

but it sounds like the Clover EFI (has folders: EFI,EFI-backups, Library, usr) is then the EFI settings that get copied to the hard drive unmounted EFI partition? Is this correct?

The Samsung PM981 is NOT compatible with macOS. I learned that the hard way after being glued to my laptop for 4 days straight with no results. I remembered I read a post somewhere about some Samsung drives being incompatible so I went and got a 970 EVO(regular not plus) after reading further. The OP needs to mention that super important detail. His EFI folder is so perfect I would of gotten it done in under two hours if I knew about the PM981. Careful with the PM981 screw mine was impossible to remove and after rubber bands, files, and lots of super glue I had to order some special pliers to remove that tiny screw. It was all worth it though, this thing looks and runs amazing. Good luck!
