[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks, I checked and it was enabled. I disabled and turned it back on again. Still no handoff or sidecar. Its really not a big deal, was just not sure why its not available when everything else is so good.
On the iPad, change your AirDrop settings to “Allow connection to everyone”.

I'm using a slightly different build, as you can see in my signature. Everything (Handoff, continuity, etc...) works flawless. The only thing missing is the "use apple watch to unlock mac" option in the security settings. I checked the system informations and it says "Auto Unlock: Supported". Any ideas why the option is missing?

The Wifi needs to be activated

How to activate WiFi with this motherboard on Catalina? It's enable on BIOS.

@CaseySJ @Elias64Fr, I had such good luck with Osy86's ThunderboltReset.kext and Al3x's TbtForcePower.efi along side a KGP's TBHP (attached). I'm able to cold boot with no device attached and hot plug away. Most of my joy comes from the cold boot side which might be more about the TbtForcePower.efi.

Good work on the new progress! Any chance I can be a guinea pig on my z370+ex3?

Cant see any attachments

BTW @CaseySJ I flashed the modified Osy's firmware (using CH341A) onto the TB controller on my Z390 ITx ASRock (cause why not :p). I took it from his GitHub (someone posted in the issues section). Ended up bricking the controller - Lost it in Windows and reinstalling the driver doesn't work in Windows - just like Osy said.
Got it back by re-flashing the the backup via CH341A - I had made a few backups - the checksum doesn't match on everyone of them (maybe the CH341A at fault ?) - so have to be careful.

Leaving it here for anyone out there thinking that this would work - it doesn't :)

Fixed! Im still about 60 pages back on reading all of the progress. It's like reading the Fountain Head except I actually like it.

@CaseySJ, If you get a wild hair can you use this in one of your test?

Also here's the link to all the TB firmware if helpful. https://github.com/northamtrans/MacOS-USBCUpdater

The onboard WiFi is not supported by MacOS, the screenshot below is from the first post, where you'll find the recommended options.

Thank Very Much to You Casey SJ! Install completed and all works fine! i9 9900KF oc 5,2Ghz on all cores rock stable. One bad think is no WiFi. "No device detected" when I check it. I don't have installed Clover for emulated Nvram. Are You think is it really necessary?

Someone have issues on Final Cut Pro X in hackintosh with Catalina? Thanks in advance
Glad to hear it.
  • Regarding WiFi:
    • Do you have the Fenvi FV-T919?
    • And SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml?
  • It's okay not to install Clover RC scripts for emulated NVRAM. Later (not now!) you can try enabling native NVRAM.

@CaseySJ I've been trying to get OpenCore properly configured on my own for the last week, to no avail. I will try out this awesome guide you guys have been working on, but I have some questions before proceeding:

(Background info: been on Mojave/Catalina for the last several months via Clover; SMBIOS iMac18,3; i9-9900k; RX580).
  1. I saw you mention that iGPU needs to be disabled for 19,1 or 1,1.
    • Does this mean SideCar does not work?
    • What limitations are there from having the iGPU disabled?
Hello @kejocu,

Yes -- with IGPU disabled, SideCar will not work (maybe someone can test and confirm this).
  1. Has anyone had success with 18,3, or should I just go with 19,1 or 1,1 and generate new serial number etc?
    • (Maybe the iGPU could be enabled with another SMBIOS?)
iMac18,3 should work just fine!
  1. Is the newer F9b BIOS update untested or not recommended for any reason? Do you know if F8 cause any issues with existing Clover installs?
UEFI Firmware F9b is also just fine! Feel free to update.
