[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Oh I see -- this is not a boot up problem. This reboot occurs while the progress bar is on screen, so the boot log won't help.

Some more questions:
  • What version of Clover are you using? Looks like 5xxx because of the drivers/UEFI folder.
  • What is the make/model of your macOS NVMe SSD?
  • What memory modules do you have (brand, capacity of each module, and number of modules)?
Please try the attached config.plist, but first:
  • Copy serial numbers back into SMBIOS.
  • Copy Board Serial Number into RtVariables --> MLB.

Clover is v2.5k r5103 (3f3b85da0)
Harddrive- Samsung 970 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology
Memory: RAM- HyperX Predator Black 16GB Kit 3333MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM XMP Desktop Memory HX433C16PB3K2/16

And I'm sorry but where do i find serial number to put in SMBIOS?
And is the board serial number you refer to my motherboard?
Sorry for dumb questions

Thanks

In the config.plist you posted (inside the CLOVER folder), the 2 serial numbers in screenshot are blanked out. Just copy those numbers back. If you didn't save those numbers, you can generate a whole new set by clicking the pop-up menu near the bottom right of this window and choosing iMac19,1 once again.

Then copy Board Serial Number to RtVariables --> MLB.

Ok i got it. Thanks
I will try it again with these changes.
If it doesnt work i will also try the config.plist you attached

@CaseySJ
So far it has not worked.
And weirdly everytime i set the CSM support to disabled in BIOS it causes the HDMI to shut off. Can't see my monitor. Is that normal? Should i just keep it enabled?

Here are ACPI dumps from my Z390 Ultra. One with the Titan Ridge card, and one with the Alpine Ridge card.

also, this is what I see in IOReg.. pretty sure that means its on RP23

Hi @manfriday

I have seen your DSDT and it seem to be very closed to Z390 Designare for TBT features !

On Titan ridge testing, if plugged on RP23, you can use same files as posted for @CaseySJ, Last testing draft is 8 Light version and 9 full version.
_E17 is the same. Even PINI() are present on RP23.

The only modifications you have to do :
  • Under Clover, renaming _E17 to XE17
  • On the SSDT, renaming all RP05 to RP23
  • On the SSDT, changing "Local0 = (\_SB.PCI0.GPCB () + 0x000E4000)" to "Local0 = (\_SB.PCI0.GPCB () + 0x000DE000)" >> this modified value is the relative address of used Root Port
  • In case of version 9 full, as I add _L6F for testing, you should rename under clover _L6F to XL6F
For Alpine Ridge connected to RP23, you can use attached file.
If you have XHC2 (under DSB2) shared with XHC (main USB) like on Designare, I have to make one more change.

Method for Root Port bolded data extract from IOReg in case of different port:

Or by formula: For RP21 @ 1B, 4 >> (0x1B * 8) + 0x4

Even though it's not the same motherboard, I used this guide for my build on the ASUS MAXIMUS ROG XI HERO (Wi-Fi) and it worked PERFECTLY! Huge thanks!

Here are the specs of my new build that this guide worked for:
  • ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI)
  • Intel Core i9-9900K Processor
  • be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler
  • Samsung 970 EVO SSD 1TB
  • 32GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM
  • ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 580 O8G Gaming OC Edition Graphics Card

After 2 weeks of delay for changing my faulty PSU, I've managed to put all the parts together. I've also created a Catalina USB to boot from and have followed the instructions for Catalina install from @CaseySJ 's guide. I have a 2TB Samsung EVO Plus which I haven't been able to update the firmware for yet.
My questions:
•Do I need an updated firmware for the SSD or can I do this once I've installed Catalina.
•When the system boots from the USB and I choose to install Catalina, it shows an apple logo and stays there. Nothing happens after.

Have looked all over the net for solutions to no avail.
Any ideas?
Thank you

@CaseySJ
I have uploaded the config.plist you attached and now instead of the computer restarting over and over, it gets stuck at the 15 minute mark on phase 2 when installing Mojave on the SSD.
Am I missing any drivers? Or kexts?
Thanks!

Hello @HackDeMac

The Samsung 970 EVO Plus must have latest firmware before installing macOS. The firmware can be checked and upgraded using Samsung Magician software under Windows.

I'm wondering if Clover 5xxx supplied with UniBeast 9.3.0 might be an issue.

Can you please try creating the USB install disk again from scratch (reformat the USB disk with Disk Utility) and use UniBeast 9.2.0 from this link.

Thank you @CaseySJ. I guess I'll have to look for a windows machine.
So probably the Apple logo screen is also because of that. Could it be?
Thanks again
