Hi Mister Greg (sorry if I am mistaken)
Thank you so much for such a quick answer. Hum, I am not very good in computers.
I have two kingston SSD Drive 2To SKC2000M8. I had no idea that you can update firmwares of SSD drive, I will Look
I first tried to find any firmware update or driver for the Azuz Hyper M.2 x16 V2 card, but can't find something, neither firmware update, nore drivers. I will try to find firmware for the drive, and test some special boots and let you know
thanks anyway

Have a nice week end

Loïc

what about using this card in a Mac Pro 2019 ? I have installed the card with two NVMe Drive, but I can only get one.

@Loic67,

As detailed earlier in this thread in order to use the card as four separate M.2's you need to put it in a x16 PCIe slot that is configured as 4 x 4 PCIe lanes. I assume there must be either a way to configure a specific slot as 4x4 (turn on bifurcation) or it's possible that one of the x16 slots is already configured as 4x4.

However it's also possible that Apple have implemented some sort bespoke mechanism to do this which only works with Apple supplied or approved PCIe cards with an appropriate driver/kext.

Check the Apple Mac pro manuals for PCIe slot configuration ... let us know how you get on.

Cheers
Jay

Hi Loic :)
Yesterday I found that video:
So we know - it's possible to add a lot of m.2 drives in new Mac, I'm not sure yet why that https://amfeltec.com/pci-express-gen-3-carrier-board-for-6-m2-or-ngsff-nf1-pcie-ssd-modules/ card is showing oob all SSDs on iMac
and our Asus HyperX no, but I will check details later when I will have more time for research.
Maybe simply it's a problem of one of your SSDs...

Check post of @jaymonkey ;)

... and btw: If I were you, first thing to do -> Test each SSD separately - then we will know if both work and
if they are visible correctly :)

Yesterday I found that video

@mgregrs, @Loic67,

The SQUID-86-36 M.2 PCIe carrier board used in that video has an on-board PCIe switch between the PCIe slot and the M.2 ports. This takes away any need to pre-configure the PCIe Slot. it simply interfaces to the X16 (or x8) upstream PCIe slot and the on-board PCIe switch takes care of managing the downstream x4 links to the six M.2 ports.

SQUID_86-36_PCIe_block_WWW.jpg

The Asus Hyper M.2 X16 board is a very basic PCIe 4 x M.2 breakout board which does not have an on-board PCIe switch and relies on the PC's CPU to manage the segregation of the M.2 ports, thus it needs to be put in a X16 slot that is configured 4x4 or would require bifurcation to be turned on, if either of these options are not available on the new Mac pro then it unlikely that it will ever work (except for one M.2 port).

The Asus Hyper M.2 install instructions only lists PC mother boards as being compatible which makes sense.

Cheers
Jay

Great finding!

It great to know for future choice of card for (I hope) some day my new iMac Pro :)
even now for choosing parts for my clients!

Thanks Jay! ;)

good day,

i have ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 and would like to know if i add intel VROC key and set RAID 0 in BIOS, whether OSX can recognize this RAID 0 or not ?

anyone tried this yet?

Hi, Hello :)

I never tried it, cause I don't have VROC key,
personally I think it can work well, maybe not as
boot drive, but as work drive, why not :)

Without real test I can't say more. Maybe someone else already tested that.
We will see if someone else will say more.

Have a nice day/night (depend of your time zone) :)

Solved!

I already tried to implement the .aml one by one, restarting every time, in "PCI" everything shows fine, when I insert the Wifi-Bluetooth card, the thunderbolr disappears, it doesn't matter if I have the .aml in patched, if I don't have it, If it is configured or not, it is very strange but I have solved it. I have removed my Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 and changed it to my old Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon 580, the latter is less thick and allows me to use the PCIEX16_2 slot, then:

PCIEX16_1 - Sapphire Nitro + Radeon 580
PCIEX16_2 - WiFi / Bluetooth card
PCIEX16_3 - Asus Hyper x16 V2 (4x M.2)
PCIEX16_4 - Asus Thunderbolt EX3

Everything is working perfectly  , just by changing the Wi-Fi card from Slot pci_2 to PCIEX16_2, correcting the .aml and it will work!
Something happens to me with the slot pci_2, I do not know if it will be general or it is something of my motherboard, but the good thing is that I have it solved, the bad thing that I have degraded from the graphics card, I will have to sell both and go for Radeon VII...:mrgreen::mrgreen:

can you share your TB3 ssdt? I have the same system as yours, have the hyper x16 and need to place the TB3 at slot 6 as well.

SOLVED!!

Following KGP's excellent Guide, https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ojave-successful-build-extended-guide.255082/
And
Mork_vom_Ork's HotPlug/HotSwap solution, https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/howto-real-thunderbolt-hotplug-hotswap-on-the-fly.282953/

I used KGP's provided SSDT-X299-TB3HP.aml for ASUS WS X299 Sage 10G placing TB3 card at slot 2, change the value according to Mork_vom_Ork's solution. It now works beautifully!

And Thanks to @mgregrs for this ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card V2 Guide!!
