[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ, thanks a lot for your answer!

As I said, I don't care about overclocking that much. I was just asking in case the issue was already addressed by another user. I'll continue to experiment on the OC issue by myself and report back with some results.

Regarding the Thermal issue, I'm not experiencing any abnormality on any of my components. But due to the 32 bits app restriction going on in 10.15, I'm staying in 10.14.6 and still experiencing this issue. So I think it is safe to conclude that the ACPI error regarding \_TZ device is more related to BIOS version F9b than it is to OS version since I'm still in Mojave. Do you agree?

Cheers!
I think you're right -- it affects Mojave as well. I only noticed it a few weeks ago in Catalina. It occurs on BIOS F8 (which I am running) and perhaps previous versions as well.

I should add that the Thermal Zone information is contained in one of the Gigabyte SSDTs, so the ACPI parsing error in macOS is not due to anything that we did...

Uh yeah I see there is a OpenCore discussion going on for this specific build <3

Please keep on sharing your knowledge, I'll enter the discussion once I got more time to tinker with OC.

Just want to confirm that on my present setup this BCM94360CS2 wireless&bluetooth card worked ootb and perfectly fine, dont use handsoff and any smartwatch stuff (according to system report ist should work) but airdrop works for sure.

I'm also trying to get this Syba PCI-E Firewire Card to work properly with my Focusrite Saffire Pro40.
While I did get the card to work ootb I still have those nasty, quiet, but definately hearable, high pitch sound ruining my music experience. It seems to only occur when the system draws more than the average from the PSU. It might be some interference related thing, however I have a very high qualit firewire card and nicely seperated cables.
(Many posts from 2012-2014 adress this issue, however I found no real solution). Gonna experiment a little more and will keep you up to date.

If anybody can help me/has ideas or tips about that firewire issue I'd be very thankful!
(I'd like to stick with my interface for a bit longer)

Do you get the same problem when using this mouse on a real Mac?
I do not have a real Mac. It worked fine before. I tried to update my files and config accordingly to all updates.
First, I took the instruction from Page 1. Then I mixed it up with fresh install and so on.
I just want it all running smooth.
Thanks for the help
Should I post all my data in EFI and the config??

Try changing pci slots, I use that Firewire card at bottom slot

Has anyone found a tool to utilize any internal RGB components? I have a used a Win10 Vm to control my fan and AIO RGB's. But I cannot find a way to control the Corsair Vengeance RAM RGB. It seems as if the RAM is not recognized in the iCUE software. Is there a Gigabyte software I can try?

Also, I know the Corsair AIO had issues with a USB connection not allowing the computer to sleep successfully. Is there a workaround for this or is it fixed with Catalina?

Some other suggestions:
  • Check the battery (put in a new battery temporarily).
  • Do any other USB devices stutter or stop working? Or only the USB/wireless mouse?
  • You may also run IORegistryExplorer and select File --> Save As... to export the device tree. Then upload that file. It will show us whether USB power (high current) is set up correctly and whether there might be too many USB devices.

@shivakrishna

The components you listed are the ones I'm using personally, but this build guide accommodates numerous variations. The MSI RX 580 Gaming X, for example, may have been discontinued. But most RX 580 or RX 590 cards will work, as will Vega 56, Vega 64, Radeon VII, RX 5700, and RX 5700 XT. Sapphire Pulse is a good choice.

You can also use any Coffee Lake (8xxx) or Coffee Lake Refresh (9xxx) CPU.

Thank you guys @Racke , and @CaseySJ for your patience and taking time to replying my post.

I was worried I thought I should choose only the Graphics Card , Mother Board, and CPU they must match exaclty.
I was NOT sure I can choose any RX 580 i.e Any RX 580 from any maker like MSI or any other Brand.

Can Somebody post or let me know if there is a link where Can I find more information regarding how to choose similar mother board( it might depending on BUS speed or some other parameters),
similarly how to choose similar CPU for the respective mother board if I don't find the same one which was posted in "succefully built so and so hackintosh".
How to choose right combination if particualr hardware is NOT available to us near by shops, where we regularly buy hardware.
I wanted to know more about this.

I have to build Hackintosh, because my work demands MAC rather than windows machine.

Thanks in advance guys.

Coming to the my story:
I thought of asking if same graphics mentioned in the post is NOT available, how to choose compatible or another compatible Graphics which would be working for this build.

As MSI RX 580
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781XS6QS/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
graphics is out of stock at near by Micro center so I am planning to buy compatible one which is am posting below:
Option 1 :
Option 2 :
Option 3:

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong:
We need to choose the Graphics card depending on the DDR (RAM memory type) and type of the bus slot which intern should be compatible with motherboard, is it right?

Please guide me whether am selecting compatible one or NOT, and could you please let me know which one is good to buy out of three options.

Thanks
Shiva

2. After the BIOS update, I'm getting an ACPI error as shown in the image below:

View attachment 445226

For what I can read, it says something like:

Code:
No arguments are initialized for method [_STA]

ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\TZ.TZ10._STA] (Mode ffffff"somerandomnumber"), SOMETHING_SOMETHING_INITIALIZED_LOCAL ("somenumber"/parse-632)
ACPI Error: Method execution failed [\TZ.TZ10._STA] (Mode ffffff"somerandomnumber"), SOMETHING_SOMETHING_INITIALIZED_LOCAL ("somenumber"/parse-632)

I've had that ACPI error message in my logs since updating to BIOS 7, months ago
It's been there ever since, but seems to cause no problem

@shivakrishna

Just a quick note:

This build guide should work with most Gigabyte Z390 boards, but the USB and Thunderbolt SSDTs are only for the Designare Z390. This guide will be most effective if you use the Designare Z390 motherboard. All other components (memory, GPU, CPU cooler, power supply, NVMe SSD, etc.) are fairly interchangeable.

UPDATE: In general, we should choose a card that is as close to the AMD Reference design as possible. The PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Dragon is a good choice. if you look at my signature below, you'll see that I'm using Powercolor RX 580 and Powercolor RX 5700 XT.
