[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

If anyone with OpenCore knows how to change the default boot volume, please let us know.

NVRAM has to be functioning properly, and then you (supposedly) set it with the System preferences STARTUP option.

I, however, have not yet figured out how to get NVRAM, real or emulated functioning properly with OpenCore..

Hola hackintosh amigos Hope everyone’s finding success.

@CaseySJ have a question if I could.
I’ve been getting choppy audio from my case jack. While reading posts I noticed that it was mentioned Audio layout ID 11 is the preferred in this build so I went thru and looked at how it was mentioned to switch to layout 11 however since I’m using a different config file from what is in miniguide I don’t have the section that you mention to adjust to switch to layout 11.

when I look in hackintool or config file it shows my audio layout is set to “1”

was wondering if I could get pointed in the direction on how to adjust to diff audio layout please and thank you!

outside of that builds been working like a dream will be updating WEG/Lilu and others to see if fix to idle were addressed in this update and take back my other DP Io lol

  • What is the make/model of the monitor?
  • Are you connecting via HDMI or DisplayPort (no adapters)?

its Dell P2715Q, worked perfectly fine with Mojave, connecting with DisplayPort.

Hi @CaseySJ, I enabled the Verbose in the checkbox, but choosing Boot MacOs from Mojave doesn't change the thing : there's no script, no message, just the apple logo. Do you have any solution for it ?

I'm also having intermittent problems with videos looking scrambled, even locally. How can I test my gpu? Clover folder attached. I also ran Cinebench and got 3537 points...

However, my system is not stable. Every couple hours I'll be doing something innocuous and everything will freeze up in the worst way. I can't even force quit, it's systemic.

This was my working Efi with the RX580. I used it with iMac18,3 and iMac19,1 (I use no onboard Audio and a different Bluetooth chip). I changed the Serial Numbers.

The differences I found are:

1) I disabled HDAS to HDEF
2) I have less entries in Boot Arguments. I used no shiki with the 580 and im not sure if you really need agdpmod. I also never needed keepsyms=1
3) different platform-id in Devices/Properties (headless, I hope your iGPU is set to ON (BIOS) and NOT connected!!)

I would try with my config to look if it works and then add your additional entrys one after the other, to see where the problem came from.

The rest of your Clover folder (I hope it is called "EFI" on your Partition) seems OK to me.

Do you have drivers installed in Library/Extensions as well? Personally I would not install anything there. But if, make sure that they are the same as in your EFI/drivers/UEFI folder and also not more than there.

By the way, I never used the HDMI and DVI Outs. Only Displayport.

Don't know if it would help, but I was having an issue when attempting to make changes to my EFI and nothing was being changed turned out I had to go in and adjust my boot sequence in BIOS so the system would boot from the EFI I was modifying rather than my backup EFI don't know how many drives you have in the system currently.

Ok, the problem was that I pressed the spacebar before being on "Boot MacOs from Mojave", so when I booted from it the Verbose was unchecked. I retried it and now this is what I got with your advices !

Thanks for your answer ! Don't know if it could be the same as you.. I just have one SSD, a Samsung Evo plus 970

When you reach the macOS Installer, run Terminal from the Tools menu and type:

ntpdate -u time.apple.com

Then quit Terminal and begin macOS installation. Does it work?

I could not find the terminal in the installer, but I solved the problem by installing a complete operating system on a partition of the USB installer. Starting from this system I was able to install the operating system on the target machine without problems. Now proceed to the post installation.

Your Clover configuration looks correct. Some suggestions:
  • Try disabling WhateverGreen by adding -wegoff to Boot Arguments.
  • Also try updating WhateverGreen to version 1.3.6.
  • If instability continues, also remove agdpmod=pikera from Boot Arguments.
  • What is the make/model of your RX 580?
  • What is the make/model of your monitor?
  • Are you using HDMI or DisplayPort?
  • Are you using any adapters such as a DVI or VGA adapter?
