[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hello @CaseySJ! Thanks for your great work! I'm a huge fan of your guides. I just did a Catalina install on a Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming, and with the different USB SSDT it worked, but there's just one thing, it says it has an i9, when in reality it only has an i7. Is there a way to fix this that you know of? Thanks in advance!

Hello @mbapple

Glad it worked on the Z390 M Gaming! The CPU name was easy to change in Mojave, but it's more complicated on Catalina. It's mostly cosmetic so I do not recommend changing it.

By the way, see that boldfaced sentence in black?

Okay cool, thanks. Sorry I read that earlier but forgot when replying. Fixed.

Has anyone seen this error message ? Any ideas

EDIT: my BIOS records a boot failure.

As far as the damaged installation, how old is the macOS Mojave copy? Recently, all copies of macOS, I think, older than October no longer work.

I had to change the Date. and it worked. Has anyone got a newer version

I think I read somewhere it's actually related to the DVMT setting of the iGPU, try setting that to 64MB instead of the default 128MB. Mind you, when you re-enable iGPU, the DVMT setting at first won't appear, you have to get into the BIOS a second time for it to pop up.
Do you mean DMVT Pre-Allocated? That's already at 64mb. The DMVT TotalGFX mem is 256m.

Is there some weirdness with my gpu? I have dual Asus VN248 monitors. I only have two cables long enough for my setup: 1 HMDI and 1 DVI to HDMI. When I used that, every other time the monitors would never wake up, there were frequent crashes on startup, and once booted the DVI to HDMI monitor (whichever, I tried both) would be magenta. When I went solo monitor, things got faster and more stable. I have a short DP cable which I tried (instead of DVI to HDMI). Once again I got crashing and fits. Finally, I went solo monitor until the system booted, then plugged in and connected the DP monitor, and that worked, and continues to usually work throughout restarts. However, after a cold start, often neither monitor will come on. I'm hoping that if I get two cables that match things will work better.

Please replace all files in the drivers/UEFI folder with those from the corresponding folder in the Catalina Mini-Guide ZIP, and reboot. How does the system behave after the reboot?
I took this advice. My audio is fixed. Things are looking more stable. My front USB ports aren't working, so I thought to try out this ssdt guide by Stork. Unless you think that's a bad idea...

EDIT: Front USB ports work fine. They weren't plugged in! MY BAD.

Hello all, I just finished all the post-installation process but I read at the bottom of the installation guide that : "If you're not using an external PCIe graphics card, but are relying entirely on the onboard Intel iGPU with an HDMI connection, then you must apply the framebuffer patch described in the section Using the UHD 630 to Drive HDMI and DP Monitors. Failure to do so will result in a blank screen when you reboot" I'l using the internal graphic card of the processor but I bought an additionnal DisplayPort/UsbC cable to solve the problem. I'm still at the end of post-installation and I didn't reboot !! Unfortunately, when I unplug my hdmi and plug the displayport/usbC cable; nothing appears on my monitor. Do you have a solution ?

Please post your config.plist (you may remove serial numbers from SMBIOS).

Hello @caseusj, this is it !
