Good news, well my wife who has an iPhone with her AppleId works without any issues.

I will wait to try my AppleId, which was never associated with Apple hardware. I have a valid id as I bought movies from iTunes before.

Thanks!

Ok - Good luck, keep us informed on how it goes, old established Apple ID's (iTune purchase history, App Store D/Loads etc) seems to have a better pass rate on new Hack builds than new ID's on new builds judging by numerous previous posts.

Hello guys,
I'm having a weird issue with Messages on my Mojave Hackintosh. It's all synced and working except for one part: I can't view/download/send attachments. I get an error message when sending and when I receive an attachment I can't see it nor download it. When I send one from my iPhone, I will get an error message on the Hackintosh (failed to send message, try again?)

This is a new issue for me, I don't exactly know what could be the cause...

Thanks for your tips

Have you tried signing out of iCloud on both devices and then back in again to insure both devices are syncing properly?

Two questions regarding setting up iMessage:
  1. Does the internet connection initially used to setup iMessage need to be the built-in en0 or can i use another connection to set it up e.g. a wifi card or usb tethering via horndis that are not built-in en0? I do have the ethernet recognised as built-in en0, but don't have internet access via ethernet.
  2. Is the the 3.1 Apple ID Verification step still valid? The appleid.apple.com page looks different from the screen cap and at least for me i cant see any verification status anywhere. So is there any way of checking whether my Apple ID is "kosher"?
Thanks

@manaba,

As long as your system has a network adapter that is flagged as "built-in" and connected then you can setup and use iMessage. If you don't have a "built-in" network device you wont be able to setup or use iMessage.

One method to work around this is to install @RehabMan's Null Ethernet kext, this creates a dummy/fake ethernet device that is flagged as "built-in" which means you can use a USB ethernet or wifi network adapter to connect to the internet and use iMessage or any of Apples other online services.

You can find out more about Null Ethernet by visiting his repo here :-

Since the guide was written back in 2016 Apple have changed the "Manage you AppleID" website ... as far as i can see they no longer have the verify AppleID feature most likely because AppleID security is way more stronger these days. I thin as long as you can login to your AppleID account on the "Manage your AppleID" website you should be ok.

Cheers
Jay

In case anyone reads this and hadn't thought of it yet / missed where it was said. Make sure you have Aptio fix - If your NVRAM isn't working, iMessage won't work (As it says in the guide)

in my case, I had uninstalled AptioMemoryFix and iMessages/FaceTime randomly stopped working. Shout out to @RehabMan and for reminding me in this thread:

Search tool is your friend.

@PREngineer,
  1. Logout of all of Apples on line systems iCloud, iMessage, iTunes ... etc.
  2. Wait 24 Hours then log back in.
Sometimes an account can get flagged in-correctly ... logging out and waiting 24 hours can sometimes clear this.

Tried too many times, maybe this works? Also FMM always saying "This device cannot be used to receive Apple ID verification codes". nvram works. deleted the nvram.plist and still works. Thought that may be causing a problem with the apple servers recognizing machine as legit but it didn't help. I do have recovery partition and unchecked dontdorecovery.

Does not show up as a device option in iPhones Text message forwarding.

Everything looks ok? 10.14.6, I don't think it matters whether MLB is in place as long as it
shows in the black area? Serial recognized in Mac lookup and not owned in apple serial lookup.
Deleted cache/preference files while deleted all connections in network pref while logged out.
possible logged into iTunes at time. Not sure that would affect it.

NetXtream Bcm ethernet a problem, though its showing as "built in"?
Had a try with that ethernet kext disabled and wifi made en0 and did
not work, though could have been an issue w/nvram @ the time.

ethernets Mac address in network settings says all zeros. Is this what it should be?
RTvariables Usemacaddr0? edit: Yup.

1. Tried 24 hr logout but forgot had another user logged in. Will have to try another. edit: duh.

2. Is the MLB supposed to be the same as the board serial? edit: It works this way apparently so.

3. maybe cause there's already 5 Macs signed in? Edit: Yes there is a 5 computer / and 5 phone... prob includes iOS

Ok all was right had to reinstall macOS. solved

Hey you guys are good. Thanks for the tons of work you've all put in.

Edit one odd thing probably not on topic but maybe memory got screwed up with the installation
that wasn't working. The machine would take multiple trys to post to bios if shut down but after reinstalling it was fixed. I did not realize this could happen. Wow. Thought I had a hardware problem.

Hi, I tried everything without success
No you haven't! - Try populating your profile with your specs as required (See Forum Rules) to enable others to assist you because as it stands no one knows what you're trying to get iMessage/F-Time activation on and then provide more information of what steps you've taken so far apart from 'I Tried everything' which helps no one to help you. Good luck.
