Radeon RX 4XX/5XX standalone system, AMDRadeonX4250.kext (GVA support H264) does not support HEVC HW

Status
Not open for further replies.
Dummy kext update for AMD RX4XX/5XX, re-enable RX4XX/5XX GVA HEVC support on 10.15.2 beta 19C39d.

Does this support 10.13.6 High Sierra? I am on RX570, I can't get HEVC support. Whenever I use airdrop HEVC video files, it doesn't transfer over. I tried iMacPro1,1, this kext, nothing seems to work. Any idea please?

I'll test it with the flag but before that my findings
1 Reboot after Wake
2 Little more time to boot

Why Intel KBL Unknown GPU?

But as seen from the pics both GPUs are working perfectly. Netflix and prime not working
Tested with the flag also same things.
Why to use shikigva=16 flag?

I thing something in not correct.
you should not see any intel card, only in Video proc should see hevc work from Intel HD630.
give me you EFI folder to check it

I have attached the EFI. Some further observations
I have GPU enabled in BIOS. With SMBIOS 19,2 and 0x3E9B0007 Activity monitor GPU history shows both GPUs
With this values iMovie,FCP and Darktable DON'T work
to enable HW Acceleration in Videoproc in Devices you only require the 3 entries which is in my EFI

Hello,Rajkhand.
I had read your EFI,You say With this values iMovie,FCP and Darktable DON'T work.
Mabe you can patch connector by hackintool and change bus id to 0x04 of index 3, please follow picture as below
My M/B is Gigabyte Z390 M(Have DVI*1/DP*1/HDMI*1) and MSI rx580 armor 8G OC.

I only connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port and use it to boot, the other two i have not tested,This method works fine with FCPX .If the bus id is incorrect, FCPX will close quickly when you open

i'll try it but with this value both GPUs are shown in activity monitor and also work as shown in my earlier post?
Are you connecting your HDMI cable to RX 580? What SMBIOS value are you using?
Can u please download luxmark www.luxmark.info/
and take screenshot?
Thanks

WEG does have new code (since 2 hours), belongs to HVEC enc.
Added HEVC capabilities to AMD6 decoders for all GPUs ( i think AMD6 means RX4xx/5xx GPUs)
Code changes

I can confirm that I downloaded, compiled, and installed Whatevergreen 1.3.6, and I no longer need the
HEVC enabling kext dummy152.kext to get HEVC working on my RX 560 Ivy system. With my system
defined in SMBIOS as an ImacPro1,1, VideoProc reports that H264 and HEVC are working at 4K resolution,
and the two Sony HEVC videos, Swordsmith and Food Fizzle, play smoothly. AppleTV is also still working.

Hi ! I've been waiting for the release of WEG 1.3.6 because I'm facing the same issue on my config in Catalina 10.15.1. (SMBIOS 17,1)
I have to disable iGPU (HD530) to get iMovie (etc) working, otherwise it crashes right at startup.
I patched iGPU connectors (via Hackintool) prior to RX570 installation and patched then again (headless) but the issue persists.

Could you please share your compiled WEG with me? So I can give it a try? Thanks !
hackintool can compile latest for you

Hi! Great Job!
Do you think it would work with SMBIOS 17,1? I guess you have HTML5 streaming (Netflix) working in Safari since you use SMBIOS as an ImacPro1,1. I wonder if it would work now on 17,1.
Could you please share your WEG compiled?
