With latest WEG/Lilu and a RX580 it seemed to upgrade fine, but I actually lost HEVC/h265 acceleration (h264 still works fine). Can people who run an RX570 or RX580 who presume things went fine with their 10.15.2 upgrade please check if h265 acceleration is still working for them?

I have the same problem, already solved?

I tried the HVECEnabler kext with my RX560, and I still don't get HEVC enabled on 10.15.2.
First of all make sure your GPU is named "GFX0" or "GFXA" (WhateverGreen) will fix this for you, second make sure you have proper GPU power management (Agpm Injector Makes This Possible' PS: I've edited this kext to work only on iMacPro 1.1 smbios and rx 580 gpu like in my hack). I've put agin hevc enabler to make it easier. If your system boots to black screen using weg use " agdpmod=pikera " boot arg.

tasc,

For the RX 560, you need a version of the HEVC enabler kext that includes the Baffin framebuffer in its
IOKitPersonalities in the Info.plist.
See post #1242 in

and try the dummy152.kext there instead.

Thank you Lisa, that worked and my RX560 now has HEVC enabled! Now I think the only issue left is getting Prime/Netflix working on safari.

VideoProc shows me this:

DRM seems to be working (testing HBO Now in Safari)..

Have tried a handbrake HEVC encode while monitoring the terminal with:

ioreg -l |grep \"PerformanceStatistics\" | cut -d '{' -f 2 | tr '|' ',' | tr -d '}' | tr ',' '\n'|grep 'HW\|Command'

But not seeing any action on anything VCE related in there during Handbrake encoding..

But..

HEVC mp4 files play with QuickLook in Finder and in Quicktime Player...

I'm just unclear on how to be sure of what is/isn't going on and working right or not?

Any clarity from someone with more knowledge on this - VERY much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

tasc,

Is your AppleTV working ok on DRM-protected content?
