Well the guy on eBay never even sent the laptop and just gave me a refund, oh the joys of private sellers on eBay....
Just ordered a 840 G1 - i5 4310 - 8GB - 240GB SSD for £104.99
I’m pretty sure as it’s not the base cpu that it will have at least have a 1600x900 display. Should be here tomorrow and I’ll geek away for the weekend, I’ll report back next week with, hopefully, good news :)

Very stable, i'm on a g2 actually been for 2 years. I would recomment g1 though, far cheaper wifi cards and not much difference in real world performance just lower battery times. Undervolt the processor for maximum efficiency (feature only avaiable on haswell or newer). Id say that worst can happen is wifi turning off and having to use windows to turn it back on.
Were you able to upgrade past Sierra 10.12.3 without the black display wake issues?

On Elitebook 840 G4 wake from sleep is causing issues. Many apps freeze or crash. Google Chrome won't launch (but it will run if already running). Safari crashes on any page with a video. Preview will open some documents, but not others, especially pictures. The only solution is rebooting. Everything else is working good. Same occurs in High Sierra (i'm on high sierra) and Mojave. Is there any solution for this?

i don't know what you mean, i started with high sierra

I don't know what is the correlation between cpu and display, i think that's just the version released in 2014 with the haswell refresh. That wifi card is very good. G2 has NGFF wifi wich is more expansive

Hey m8, am using G2 as well on mojave 14.6 everything is smooth except wifi because i ordered by wrong 1820A which works sometimes then doesn’t work. Would share your clover including config plist please ? Am struggling with card, I ordered DW1560 also creating a fork of lastest clover with RehabMan file structures.

Man, i tried to get 1820a to work too, does work only on windows, and also sometimes i just have to unplug and replug it to even work there. MacOS would just refuse to boot! I then got adapter and fitted the 9360cs2 original macbook air card by some cutting of the elitebook chassis, very time consuming process but worth it, it works better even on windows. I think 1820a is just a buggy design.
I would like to hear how you even managed to boot with it...

Used this guide, would share your config? And the model name + number cs2 (link of sellers ?) :)

Good Morning. Let's see if they could help me.

I just installed Mojave on an HP elitebook 840 G4 following the Rehabman method, and everything works just like my previous 840 G3 laptop, but I have problems with sleep.

When I activate sleep while only running on battery, I have no problem, the laptop goes to sleep perfectly and maintains it. But when I have the power supply connected to the laptop, I activate sleep, go to sleep, but immediately wake up.

I have mojave installed with SMBIOS Macbookpro 14.1. I use a wifi card from a macbook air and recognize it natively. (is for giving ideas).

I appreciate any help, since I use it quite a bit as a desktop and I need rest when I am not in front of the laptop.

Thank you very much in advance.

Edit
Same occurs to me, the laptop immediately wake up on power supply and also another big issue:

Which BIOS version are you using?
Do you face this kind of problem?

Hi, some of you have already successfully installed (+post install) macos with this guide on an Elitebook 8x0 G6 Whiskey Lake (8th generation) / UHD 620?

Well I had a couple of G2's in my watch list but after looking into the NGFF wifi cards and having to spend £50-80 on a wifi card .....decided on a G1 lol
Should be getting started on it tomorrow afternoon, not my first hackintosh and did the last one with no guide at all so fingers crossed this ones a hell of a lot easier :D

From what I've read it was literally only the entry-level configuration that used a 1366x768 display, I'll see if I can live with the 1600x900 display (my usual machine is a rMBP so a tad higher res) if not I'll look into the IPS 1080p display upgrade.
