You should install Clover EFI on your system's EFI drive. (On any drive - SSD or HDD). Any of them will do the job.

clover EFI is installed on the EFI partition of my MOJAVE SSD.

No clover has to be installed only once. On any drive.
You are saying that you have installed it. Now, enable it from the BIOS menu.

I meant: the USB-C cable works with my external monitor on Windows but not with OSX. Is there a solution for connecting an external display?
