[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

I've had that problem too with my laptop but swapped in a DW1560 instead of trying to get the 1820 to work. You can try this here but no idea if it will change anything, I never tried it.

I gave up now, I tried so many ways but none worked for me.
Which DW you recommend? I would use a DW1830 or even higher, I forgot what comes next after 1820a and 1830.

See here for a guide, post #138 deals with that specific card and may have some additional information and tips for you to try before you give up completely. Otherwise the DW 1560 works well, the 1820A is kind of notorious for being difficult.

So i have to buy the 1560, bc the 1830 doesnt fit into the NUC (i checked yesterday).
what a pitty...

@Leesureone:

So, getting rid of FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_Intel_HDMI_Audio.kext and installing the modified AppleALC.kext, according to post #1594 gave me a new analog headphone option (that's actually working) in System Preferences > Sound > Output, but still no digital HDMI anywhere to be found.

As my last final try I might do the EFI folder thing you suggested:

If none of the other suggestions work I would then suggest removing all add on kexts from L/ E and using this EFI folder bring it has worked for other NUC7 users. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...i-nuc7i7bxx-nuc8i7bxx-etc.261711/post-2028881

Could you tell me how a vanilla Mojave /Library/Extensions should look like? I'd hate to uninstall some essential system kexts by mistake. My guess would be, to uninstall every kext with the 2019-11-21 date (see attached screenshot), but I'm not really sure.

And another question: As I stated in my original post, I installed Clover and Mojave via UniBeast/MultiBeast. Could my missing digital audio output be a consequence of that? I'd say no, but what do I know?

Yes, the kexts you highlighted can be deleted and then relocated. BTW you seem to have some extra kexts you can eliminate if you aren't using an M2 Wifi Bluetooth adapter. Any of the BRCM prefix kexts are extraneous as are the BT4LEfixup and Airport kexts. After you delete whatever kexts then be sure to rebuild the kext cache.

Yes, its possible you selected something with Multibeast that hosed your HDMI sound, maybe not but it's possible. I haven't used MB for quite some time but if I remember right there are some sound options that could be responsible. An update or reinstall would fix that.

Wondering what would happen with the modified AppleALC.kext applied and then adding the FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_Intel_HDMI_Audio.kext back in?

Well, I installed Multibeast with minimal settings. I actually only added IntelMausiEthernet, as far as I know. Hmmm?

To rebuild kext caches, is it enough to just run Kext Utility? (as written in this tutorial) That's what I always used to do. Or do I need to run extra Terminal commands?

I don't have high hopes, but I'll try to add the FakePCIID thingies back in. It's worth a try. Though I'm getting to a point where I'm content with just keeping the external Creative sound card.

Thanks again.

I don't know what is effecting your build but HDMI sound is not a documented issue, it should just work. To rebuild the kextcache you can use kextbeast or run this command in terminal.

sudo kextcache -i /

For some reason last few days when I wake up my nuc I see an error my system restarted because of wake issue.. I don't know why, it worked for a few weeks without any issue.

What does the error report show?
