Hi everyone:)
I have a question about an “hard” thing that I want to make but I want to know if it’s possible.

I want to : connect my Mobo DP to the monitor and (like on laptops) use the amd dGPU on Mac and nvidia dGPU on windows.

Maybe I’m not explaining it in the best way possible but I hope you will understand what I’m trying to say.

It's possible to run both cards but it requires more work and macOS won't be able to use Nvidia card. Best to get AMD Vega 64 or 5700 XT. They run comparable to GTX 1080.

Yeah I don’t care about nvidia on mac
I just want to use AMD in Mac and nvidia on Windows

my question is about if its possibile to just connect the Mobo DP to monitor and use also the AMD on mac(side by side) like on laptops

on Windows it works cause I know that is possibile , on Mac I have no idea

You can use two monitors on the AMD cards in MacOS. Using the motherboard for a display probably won’t work very well because the IGPU isn’t as powerful as the GPU. We used to have to do it that way in Sierra for AMD cards, but Apple made it work without the IGPU in High Sierra-Catalina.

Are you just looking to get multi monitors working? If you set the IGPU as primary display output the AND card will lose a bit of performance.

I want to do using just one monitor
I know I will lose “hope some performance “ but I don’t understand if you are answering my question .
Imagine I have a pc with i9 and AMD gpu , is possibile connecting the Mobo DP to monitor and use also AMD card on Mac ?

I haven't tried it lately but in Sierra you could because that was before we had Whatevergreenkext, Deinit, and also before apple changed the software. We had to use the IGPU as primary display and switch to the GPU after it booted, or use multi monitors. Is there a specific reason to use the Mobo monitor? The gpu will work better with todays Mac software.

Are you trying to use AMD and Nvidia cards on the same system but for Mac and Windows on each?
For that setup we used to use the Nvidia card in the first slot and the AMD in the second. Set macOS to not use the Nvidia or only as display 7mb default drivers.

Ok so , yeah I want to use amd for Mac and nvidia for windows

the reason to use the cable DP behind the mobo is to not switch the monitor source to pass from Mac to windows

cause on Windows I can use nvidia card also if the cable is connected behind the mobo

and I want to know if it’s possible to use on Mac the AMD card also if the cable was connected to the mobo

I don’t care if I lose performance cause I want to upgrade my nvidia to rtx and just have a 8GB Amd
