I updated my X99 system from High Sierra to Catalina running a Nvidia 1060. The display worked fine in Catalina, but without graphics acceleration of course. When I found out that there are no Nvidia drivers for Catalina, I bought Tonymac's recommended Sapphire RX 580 Pulse.

I thought I was just going to plug in the card and be up and running. But, I am getting no display signal, but the system is fully booting. I have tried both HDMI ports and both DisplayPorts. My monitor has DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 enabled, the Dell UP3214Q.

I am running Clover 5098, Lilu 1.3.9 and WhateverGreen 1.3.4. All conflicting clover drivers and Kexts have been removed - I have attached my Clover folder. CSM has been disabled in the BIOS.

I tried with and without Injecting Intel=true and ATI=true with Orinoco for the frame buffer, but both result in no signal. I have tried both iMac18,3 and iMacPro1,1 Smbbios.

According to this thread: Solved> Sapphire RX580 Pulse - No video from HDMI, the RX 580 should work without any further patching or injections as long as I am using current versions of Lilu and WhateverGreen.

Any help would be super appreciated! It took me most of a week just getting this system up and running Catalina from High Sierra. Now I just need a display and I am all set!

Are you losing the signal as soon as the OS loads or just getting nothing at all at any time? You should have full graphics functionality with no injection using Whatevergreen 1.3.4. The only other conflict I see is the nv_spanmodepolicy=1 boot arg, but I don't know if this gets acknowledged with an AMD card.

Thanks for your help. The signal works through the Apple logo loading the progress bar, but the signal is dropped once the system would normally show the login screen. So weird that it should work and doesn't.

I just tried removing nv_spanmodepolicy=1 with no effect.

Try this and second hdmi port, report back.

Sorry - I have a RX 580. Just seems very similar...

But, I was thinking that link was about the RX 570 - it's the 5700, so probably not all that similar.

Try the new one.

Thanks! Gave it a shot and same thing though. I tried both HDMI ports and both DisplayPorts.

I wonder if this has anything to do with it, they say their Sapphire RX 570 was working until the 10.15.1 update (which is what I am running): 10.15.1 | 8GB Sapphire RX 5700 XT Nitro+ black screen

I had the video go out on my Vega when I updated to 10.15.1. Whatevergreen 1.3.4 fixed it. It looks like that's the version you are running.

I have one shot in the dark. in your config file, Kext Injection is set to Detect. Maybe set it to Yes? It could be possible that your kext's aren't injecting.

Did you remove the Nvidia web drivers?
