[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I can't get my head around the wake from sleep black screen when leaving idle away for (20 minutes) only when google chrome is open and running. All other programs seem to be able to function properly when wake from sleep etc.
My current build is

-Z390 Designare
-dedicated graphics vega frontier edition liquid cool,
-1TB Samsung Pro,
-Fenvi fv-t919,
-Intel i9-9900K,
current macOS 10.15.1
System Definition iMac 19,1
Current display LG 24" monitor HDMI to Vega Frontier Edition.
Clover r5098

My main concern is only when having Google Chrome running in background before sleep, and ,upon waking, either a solid black screen or a complete hang up and freeze and all system fans remain at full speed until a hard reset is performed..
I can't quiet understand the cause of the hangup black screen freeze since there is no crash report or no screen to obtain information about. This has been trailing with me since macOS 10.14.5. That being said, does anyone else have a similar problem with sleep while leaving Google Chrome running or active?

I remember reading about a year ago about sleep issues because of Chrome, and I think it was RehabMan who pointed out to the user that the issue was due to Chrome binding on the USB ports. This may explain why you are having issues with that? It would make sense, since Chrome has settings for blocking the use of USB ports etc. I don't know if a fix was ever found, just remember reading about the Chrome causing sleep issues with USB ports.

Can your hack sleep fine if Chrome is not running?

Hey, I did it exactly like you wrote. Downloaded from https://mackie100projects.altervista.org/download-clover-configurator/ (the link from the guide).
But when I open 5.7.0.0 under High Sierra 10.13.6 this shows up:

Another question: I followed the guide and just finished creating the USB-Stick, updated my BIOS-Settings. And I am at stucked at the:

Because I don't have the "BCM94360CS2 WiFi/BT module" yet. Anything else is ready to install. Do you think it will cause trouble when I install Mac OS and do the Post-Installation without any (suitable) WIFI-Module yet installed?
I ordered the Fenvi FV-T919 and from what I understood it's nativly supported, so as far as I understood there is nothing to add in Post-Installation to make it work. So will I risk anything following your guide without the WIFI-Module?

Just my two cents, I followed Mr. Caseys guide and didnt have the Fenvi t919 yet either, and all worked fine. 10 days after having the rig running fine the card arrived and I installed it. Everything wifi, bluetooth, hand-off airdrop etc. etc. worked without a hitch.

Ever since updating my system to 10.15.1 my Finder app crashes after a bit, reliably. When that happens, I'm unable to shut the computer down and I have to press the physical reset button. What could this be? I also changed the system definition to iMacPro1,1 because I wanted to see if that speeds up FCPX, which it seems to do.

Did you change SMBIOS at the same time as upgrading?
Did you disable IGPU in BIOS/UEFI when switching? iMacPro doesn't use IGPU, so make sure it is disabled. Try going to iMac19:1 for a while and test, does the issue still occur? We need to test in a methodical form, to really get to the issue of the problem :)

@CaseySJ

I can also give a further update, moving on from my initial post. I have plugged in an LG 5K UltraFine display into the TB3 port (after running a DP-to-DP cables from the RX580 to the DP-in) and it runs this absolutely fine, and boots to it with no issues.

EDIT: I haven't done the Framebuffer patch at the moment.

Hello again @CaseySJ (and also @TheAsocial). Sorry to come back to this 'old' post, but I'm considering to buy A 5K LG monitor (in this case maybe a LG 34WK95U-W), but a little confused when you say "(after running a DP-to-DP cables from the RX580 to the DP-in)". You mean connecting a display port from the video card to the MB? I can't find a DP-in on my MB. Where can I find some more info regarding this?

My intentions is to connect my hackintosh to the 5K monitor trough TB3 cable.

Thank you!

That's a good point. To check whether Chrome is binding to your USB ports, run IORegistryExplorer and look at the sub-nodes under XHC. Or just select File --> Save As... and upload the saved file.

First set of suggestions:
  • When did the problem first appear? Right after switching to iMacPro1,1?
  • After switching to iMacPro1,1 have you tried:
    • Disabling IGFX in BIOS and removing WhateverGreen settings from Clover Configurator --> Devices --> Properties.
  • Were any apps or drivers installed recently?
  • Was the system perfectly stable before switching to iMacPro1,1?
  • Do you still have the original config.plist (before the switch to iMacPro1,1)?
    • If so, have you tried going back to that file?
Second suggestion would be to boot from your Bootable Backup Disk:
  • Connect the bootable backup.
  • Press F12 at BIOS splash screen to open the BIOS boot manager.
  • Select the backup disk.
  • At the Clover Boot Menu, boot macOS from the name of the bootable backup disk (not from the main NVMe SSD).
  • Does Finder crash?

Unfortunately it looks like the AORUS Xtreme does not have a DP-In port. Some comparisons from the AORUS Xtreme and Designare user's manuals:

YES sleep works great if chrome is not running.. but often times even when chrome is not running and no apps are running after about a hour and half into sleep it occasionally wakes up with no usbs plugged in and temporarily turns on then enters back to sleep mode and then wakes up and will sometimes have a hard freeze or black screen the so the answer is sleep can last longer without chrome running but after periods of time it will have a hard freeze from wake or wake by self with a hard freeze.. i really don't prefer to leave the computer running 24/7 like others in this forum who suffer the same problem.. 1. leaving computer on 24/7 will cut the components life in half or burn them out faster.. 2. electric bill at end of month will increase..
Also try disabling proximitywake as described here:
