[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

10.15.1
I went from fresh install of 10.14.6 to 10.15.1 today. Started with 10.14.6 install from CaseySJ´s very first post, then Clover 5098, VirtualSMC and latest kexts. Update to Catalina went totally normal without any hick-ups or funny reboots, at Apple-scheduled time (or faster) with normal GUI. Absolutely no panics, no crach, no nothing, and it all just works. Everything!
Bios 8 - Geekbench5 1200/9066

Z390 DESIGNARE , Sapphire Nitro Radeon RX 580 8GB ,
Stuck at 12 mins when installing Mojave.
I added both EmuVariableUefi-64.efi and OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi
am I still missing something..? appreciate the help in advance, this is my first build and this is the one thing I haven't been able to figure out on my own.

I don't think you're following the build guide. These sections will get the system installed (Mojave 10.14.6):

I think the only thing that should be different is that I could not use UniBeast to create a Bootloader and used clover and then in clover configurator followed your guide for all changes made from that point, after I believe I only added the two Efi. files stated above and two kexts files which helped get me to this point but then still stuck. I apologize for my inexperience, and I do recognize that I may have just misunderstood instructions in your guide due to my lack of experience, thank you for your quick reply, I will confirm that your instructions match what I have first, and reply if I'm still having the issue.

FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext is not needed.
OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi should be replaced with OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000 (please see Post-Install Files.zip).

Anyway, just go through the indicated sections (in red box) then compare the files in your CLOVER folder with those shown in Final Steps in Post-Installation. It's all there.

thanks so much!!! and thank you for all the help your guide has already given, wouldn't have gotten this far with out it.

Yes you're right. My i7-9700K in Catalina is being reported as 8-Core Intel Core i9. It's cosmetic and might upset your sense of aesthetics, but it won't affect system behavior.

However, you're welcome to try the following (untested by me):
  • Mount EFI folder and open config.plist in Clover Configurator.
  • In the CPU pane, set Type to 0x0204 (just type 0204).

  • This should set the CPU to "Unknown".
  • Copy the attached file back to:
    • /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleSysteminfo.framework/Versions/A/Resources/en.lproj
  • Reboot.

so I did the above mentioned. now its unknown but when I open the AppleSystemInfo.strings in the en.lproj with BBEditor i7-9700K is displayed

Gigabyte's GC-Titan Ridge is the preferred card. If you decide to purchase it, I can provide a SSDT that will enable Thunderbolt hot-plug.
Is the Thunderbolt hot-plug SSDT already in the post installation downloads ? I ordered the Gigabyte's GC-Titan Ridge.

Hey everyone!

First let me start by saying thank you CaseySJ for the dope guide I’ll be following it here soon. Just finished ordering all my parts and will be building my first hackintosh here soon.

Parts Ordered:
- NZXT H710
- i7 9700k
- H100i water cooler
- Z390 Designare
- Vengeance LPX 64GB 2666
- RM 750 PSU
- Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700XT

now my question was on best course of action I was trying to read thru if anyone had done a clean install of 10.15.1 Catalina most of what I saw was updates coming from 10.14. The GPU I ordered is officially supported in 10.15.1 but not prior wanted to know if anyone had success doing a vanilla install directly to newest update of Catalina or if it’s suggested I go to Mojave with iGPU and update to Catalina after and then add in my GPU once successfully updated to OS that supports it. Once in Catalina I do want to make use of my iGPU and discrete gpu

sorry if it’s a silly question just don’t want to try and start just to be hit with roadblocks that could have been avoided.

thanks again!
