Hi All,

I recently installed a RX580 on a working version of Mojavi. The computer boots, but my display says "resolution mismatch, check your device." After looking at other post, I tried the steps described in this post:https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...s-z370-hero-x-i7-8700k-amd-rx-580.245074/#580

But, unfortunately I haven't had any luck.

I did check the card in Windows 10 and everything seemed to work, I want make sure there wasn't any issue hardware wise.

Any help is much appreciated!

Have you tried a different output? You can install Lilu and WEG, that should resolve the problem, but I just used a different connection until I found a port on the card that worked. Things is, macOS doesn't understand PC hardware entirely, so it can end up confusing HDMI, Display port, and DVI. On the graphics card side, they are kind of interchangeable based on what the card manufacture wants, but the monitor is going to expect the digital signal type to match the connection type. So DVI data on a Display port input is not cool.

Thanks for the suggestions! So, I had already injected both lilu and weg kext to /library/extension. The card has two hdmi ports which I tried both. I do t have with types of dvi cables. I don’t mind buying them, but if there is a setting change I could make I would to see if that’s possible first.

Still having trouble, I updated older versions of Lili and weg kext to the newest ones,cleared kext cache, switched cables, tried a bunch of different clover settings, rechecked bios settings. Still black screen when booted, only way I can access is through vnc.

Have you tried adding the "Black Screen Patch Vega 56/64, RX580 etc. (c)Pike R. Alpha" to your KextsToPatch in Clover?

Code:
<dict>
    <key>Comment</key>
    <string>Black Screen Patch Vega 56/64, RX580 etc. (c)Pike R. Alpha</string>
    <key>Disabled</key>
    <false/>
    <key>Find</key>
    <data>Ym9hcmQtaWQ=</data>
    <key>InfoPlistPatch</key>
    <false/>
    <key>Name</key>
    <string>AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy</string>
    <key>Replace</key>
    <data>Ym9hcmQtaXg=</data>
</dict>

Hi there, I tried adding the patch, but no change. After applying the patch I rebooted with all my other settings. Then when that didn't work I uncheck ati-inject, igfxInject, Lily.kext and whatevergreen.kext. But, that didn't work either. Not really sure where to go from here.

Still having trouble getting this card to work, are there any other options to try?

It’s an older motherboard, have you looked into bios settings? Is there any UEFI boot option? Is there a bios update that may include UEFI support for the motherboard booting process?
AMD Polaris cards use UEFI vbios to boot it may not be getting initialized correctly by the bios. Does the mobo bios have PCI generation settings like gen1, gen2 auto?

Same problem here, but it occurred just recently, AFTER I updated Lilu and WhateverGreen, although not immediately after. My Hackintosh has only Mac OS 10.14.6 on it. It now boots into an active state but the only thing on the display is a temporary bunch of purple horizontal lines... which go away quickly and leave a black screen. My RX 580 Nitro+ has been working for about a year, until just now.
