pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Yes, I do see those but I never looked in to the cause since I leave Power Nap and Wake-on-LAN enabled.
I had originally those enabled, too, but I thought that might be the culprit of the wakes. I don’t mind it wakes to do Time Machine backup. AFAIK, this will do it the real Macs too.

What I don’t like is the display lighting up, but maybe now that I’m thinking about it is just a matter of using darkawake?

Is your Hack waking up every few minutes/hours too, then?

No, my display doesn't wake when it does that stuff. That's what "Darkwake" is, it does whatever it has to do (i.e. Time Machine, fetch new Messages, etc) with the display staying "dark".

I don't pay attention to when the darkwakes happen... Most of the time I don't notice it. Only when I'm close enough to hear the clicks of the power supply.

Yes I guess I will enable dark wake and problem solved!

Btw, aside from the “tick” the PSU does, don’t you get the GPU fans to speed up for a bit when waking or sleeping? I was able to control the case fans but the GPU... no luck. Was wondering if you maybe flashed a modified BIOS to avoid it (if you even get that).

@pastrychef I updated from your clover mojave EFI to Opencore and Catalina and everything went smoothly. The only thing I've noticed is that the about this mac page shows that I have a Vega 56 rather than a Vega 64. I'm guessing this is superficial and doesn't matter, but any ideas what would cause this?

I don't hear the GPU fans on either my Radeon VII or my Vega 56. I have a PowerColor Vega 56 Red Dragon and the fans don't even spin until there's a bit of load.

I did flash my Veg 56 with a Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 BIOS, but I've been using the stock BIOS (I can switch back and forth between BIOSes from the DIP switch) because I am using a weak power supply in that build.

Yes, I forgot to delete that... Yes, it's just cosmetic. You can edit the text to say anything you like. It's in the config.plist. Open the config.plist with either Xcode or Plist Edit Pro or a text editor like CotEditor (it's free from the Mac App Store) and search for Vega to edit the text.

Weird! Mine just speed up for a couple of second after sleep and then they will just stop too, unless I put stress on the GPU of course. This actually happened on a previous build I had with the MSI Vega 56 Turbo boost OC. They just speed up in the same way like when you turn on the pc from power off.

On my Vega, I did re-do all the VRM thermal pads and liquid metal the GPU die and HBM2 plus added washers to increase mounting pressure of the heatsink...

The Radeon VII is all stock because I didn't want to mess with that special thermal pad they use on the GPU die...

I've started to get these runtime allocation errors, looks like it's because I moved a USB dongle for the mouse from USB2 ports to USB3... should be this normal and "fragile" or might not be related to this?. I thought these errors about NVRAM couldn't happen on Z370

This is an Aptio fix error. Make sure you only have one Aptio fix installed. Also try clearing NVRAM.
