check the DAC vendors for support of OSX, the mainboards and realtek chips have nothing to do with it. if you use a DAC you can disable the onboard audio chip in bios. if it is hardware decoding then it has nothing to do with OSX
I have creative usb sound card but doesn't have dsd decoding, and onboard chip supposed to have, I also have FiiO Q1MII as usb dac but for mobile.I prefer using an external amp/dac. My Favorite purchased DACs:
- Topping MX3 Desktop Amplifier with USB-DAC and Bluetooth 40WPC
- Signstek TP-32EX TP32EX Upgrade Version 50W*2 Digital Headphone Amplifier with USB-DAC AMP and Remote Control - Silver
- USB Sound Card Adapter External USB 2.0 Audio Sound Card Adapter for Table PC Laptop Desktop Windows Mac OS Linux, Plug and Play, No drivers Needed
- Behringer U-Control UCA222 Ultra-Low Latency 2 In/2 Out USB Audio Interface with Digital Output
- Topping TP23 USB Class T Digital Amplifier 25WPC
I know choices as USB DAC, I just wanted to know how onboard chips work on Mac.You want something more expensive then. Like Topping DX3 or D10
