Hello. I have a problem that wasn't present until I started to run the catalina betas. The issue has improved with the final version and no longer affects my onboard audio, but still affects my Apogee Quartet, although way less than it used to. After a few hours the audio starts cracking and cutting out. I get this error in the console when it happens.

HALS_IOA1Engine::EndWriting: got an error from the kernel trap, Error: 0xE00002EE
Audio IO Overload inputs: '<private>' outputs: '<private>' cause: 'Unknown' prewarming: no recovering: no

Putting the computer to sleep resets the clock and i get another few hours until it happens. During the betas, this would happen to my onboard audio as well, and the Quartet was barely useable. So far I haven't seen any evidence that people are having this issue on real Macs with the Quartet.

I upgraded my cpu/motherboard from a z170 to a z390 with he same install and the problem came with it. Is there a possibility hat a clean install with the final Catalina would solve it?

Turns out my seeming stable overclock was causing the problem.

it happened with minimal bios changes

I just did a clean install of Catalina. Didn't help.

Try with catalina's usb patch and get codec commander https://github.com/Dolnor/EAPD-Codec-Commander

hey thanks for the suggestions. Ive actually got my USB SSDT all set up and working, but I have tried with the port limit patch. Only thing it did was break my sleep. I used Codec Commander back in the day and I thought it just made it so your audio wouldn't die after waking up from sleep?

Im pretty sure I've solved the problem while experimenting with other things. I disabled my IGPU, which made Final Cut utilize my Vega when exporting. The exports were glitchy with the iGPU, but clear and several times faster with it disabled. I think the iGpu was contributing to an overall stability problem. Everything feels so much better now including my audio.

how did you disable your iGPU? (BIOS/Clover?)

You would do it in the Bios.

A follow up though. This helped presumably by freeing up some ram, but didn't completely solve it. I upgraded to 32 gb of ram and its 100% solved. I don't know why having 16gb caused issues, but they are behind me.

Very interesting. I'll try that.

I had the same problem. I tried so many ways to fix it. But it did not work. One day,I turned the serial ports off from the bios. And it worked.
