AMD Radeon Navi GPU

This is showing that you were booted *without* acceleration.

You can still boot with the card even when it's not accelerated, if you're booted with acceleration the "About this mac" screen will show "Graphics Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB" and you'll see more info in the "Graphics/Displays" tab of system report. Under "Metal" it will state supported and the feature set. Without that, it's not being accelerated! :)

You're right, sorry. I've always associated pointer trails with the lack of acceleration. But they are not the same thing. A little knowledge getting me into trouble for lack of more! :)

I edited my original post to remove the erroneous claim.

Running the public beta, it shows: Radeon RX 5700 XT, 8 GB, 3840x2160. Still only finding one monitor, but that's fine. My next task is to attack the non-working WiFi.

Has anyone managed to perform any HEVC encoding? I've got TB's of 4k and 8k footage I need to archive, and supposedly these 5700's are monsters for this(EpoxVox 5700XT Encoding). Last I checked, ffmpeg macOS builds weren't especially optimized. On legit Mac hardware it's handled by the T2 chip, and it's very fast, but the quality and compression ratio is poor.

I installed Catalina with success without the 5700 installed on the system. Now that the OS is ready with the beta 2 installed, I tried to boot with the GPU but cant pass the Clover boot menu... anyone knows why? Is there any kext that im missing? I can boot normally with the intel integrated..
Thank you!

Disable Integrated Graphics.
Don’t use inject ATI or EDiD, and disable Whatevergreen or use the boot arg agdpmod=pikera

How do I disable Intel Graphics? Where do I insert the boot args? In Clover boot options?
Sorry, kinda noob here!
Thanks for the answer!

Hold the Delete key at startup and go into BIOS. Set PEG or PCIE as primary display output. Usually in Peripherals section. Then chose disable iGFX or iGPU (integrated graphics).

For boot argument you can set it in Clover Boot Screen Manager. Use cursor arrows at Clover screen. Go to Options tab and hit enter then go to Boot Arg. Hit enter then type agdpmod=pikera and hit enter.

I did all that. I know, when I choose to boot from Catalina, the Apple logo appears (black screen before). When the bar reaches 60%, the black screen apears again...

Oh! I cannot boot using Intel GPU anymore because of weg. I can only boot using the flash drive.

This is what I had to do, so maybe it'll help you:

1. I had to click spacebar on the clover bootloader screen. Then, I went down to Block Injected Kexts. Finally, click on whatevergreen.kext so that it doesn't load. Back out of there. (The "agdpmod=pikera" doesn't work for me. I have to actually disable whatevergreen.kext completely to get it to boot!)

2. Go to "Options" under your boot options on the clover bootloader screen. Go down to the graphics options. Make sure that "Injects ATI" and "EDiD" isn't selected at all.

If you’re using DP, try using different port.

I use DP on my Radeon VII. If you are facing the ports, I use the DP port of the far right side. Works great!
