Hello @mgregrs , today I tested your .aml, but I think it is missing the acpi conversions of SL1-AXHC, SL2-AXHD, etc ... I send you your modified .aml, it will be necessary to eliminate the model in the four sections "model" of the hard disk (Samsung Pro etc ...) and add in the ACPI of the config.plist the four replacements, anyway, if you have a better way to create, improve or reduce the code of your .aml (I am a newbie in this  ) do not hesitate to send it to me and try it again. Excited to be able to help with something! :)
Hello @WoodCabin ;)
I've done a BIG upgrade of my whole thread about that - especially for Catalina users with Clover :D
Check it out and then today or tomorrow let me know there -> ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 card V2 thread
PS: Even if you are newbie you can understand more inside thread about that ;)

BTW it was your photo yesterday if I remember well

I don't remember if I mentioned before - that *.aml was for Catalina,
for Mojave few things change - I still prepare all details in ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 card V2 thread :)

Hi all,

After reading this forum a lot and my Mac coming to the end of its days, I decided to make the leap to building a Hackintosh. Specs as follows...

Motherboard — Asus Prime X299-Deluxe II ATX LGA2066 Motherboard
CPU — Intel Core i9-7960X 2.8 GHz 16-Core Processor

I'm confused on why you would use a 3 generation old CPU when the new 10xxx are out and cost half the price.

Hello
I need Help For EEPROM modding my SAGE 10G

I applied per guide the adapted command

sudo ethtool -E enp226s0f0 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x240 value 0x0a
sudo ethtool -E enp226s0f0 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x241 value 0x00
sudo ethtool -E enp226s0f1 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x240 value 0x0a
sudo ethtool -E enp226s0f1 magic 0x15638086 offset 0x241 value 0x00

The "magic" number is correct.

My subsystem ID for each 10G ethernet adapter was (1043:8712) and is now (1000:8712)
But they won't appear in macOS with the SmallTree Driver installed.
I'm not sure if I have also to mod the 8712 number ?
Any clue ?
thanks
Hello everyones and especially X299 SAGE 10G users.
What did you do after EEPROM modding to make tech 10g ethernet ports work ?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe he needed something now, without waiting for official release of new 10XXX series ;)
We know it's not a great deal to buy older CPUs today, but when you have work to do...
sometimes, some people will earn more money in few days than cpu price difference...
and time to send back some project or something to client worth more than 2 new cores and 10% more power etc
(it's just an example of many reasons - why, we simply can't wait, even if it's not good choice) ;)

As I understand it, the 10980xe is not what it seems, it disappoints in its performance and its possibility of OC is low.

The 9980xe disappointed, the 7980xe is a processor with more possibilities of OC, if you look at the Geekbench of the 9980xe they do not exceed those of the 7980xe, and with a Corsair system of € 120 and a simple OC I have obtained 77,000 points

There are people with better cooling system that gets 80,000 points

The only interesting thing about 10980xe for me is the number of CPU lanes.

No no... I'm sure 10980XE will have 5-10% better results than 7980XE (or 9XXXXE)
I think that article from spanish website it's some fake or something...
Btw... I hate geekbench 5 because they changed scale too much - now we know s*#t not a good precise difference as before, but it will support and show correct scores for all new processors ...
About more pci lines is first great thing and second 256Gb of supported memory, great for future
(especially for people who need a lot of ram for their work)

PS: What is nice in links attached by you it's DSM2 great scores with his W-3175
and what is funny ... it's a score of someone with magic score  :D

Is he and someone else already using MacPro7,1 SMBIOS?? Can anybody update me about it?

You need to change the Sub-System ID not the Sub-Vendor ID. Offsets are next word, 0x242 and 0x243. The order of Sub-System ID and the Sub-Vendor ID are switched for X520 and X550.

Well, I do not know if it will be false or not, the truth is that the 9980xe has not been what was expected, the general scores of the 9980xe in mac do not approach those of the 7980xe, that is not false ... I do not speak of geekbench 5 I don't like it either. Hopefully you are right and the 10980xe is much better than its successor, with 5-10% it is not enough, because that is the performance of the 7980xe, the price if I like it, now that I have bios 2002, if the results are good I will buy one, although the problem of these processors with so many cores is that, for basic applications, Photoshop, After FX and others, they do not go very fast, a 9900k of € 456 overcomes them. If you use 3D, Cinema 4D, Lighwave or applications that use all cores, then yes, but most applications are not optimized, sadly, for use with these processors, the attached files are not false, I assure you ...:)
