Your profile says HP 7900. Fix that first if you want to get help. Include CPU and graphics.

trs96- Sorry been awhile a with a Hemorrhagic stoke. For five years and three months I've worked years quietly and learned. I'm still remembering. My old computer was a HP 7900 and I never upped it. I would any assistance you can offer.

@Darvinko - This may be a problem caused by the install program changing the BIOS boot order. First check all your BIOS settings with the description on Post #1 and if the problem recurs then, when you are installing try interrupting the BIOS and selecting to boot from the USB each boot and then when you get to the Clover screen select to install from the Option that selects the 'Install OSX Mojave' from the SATA drive.

I have used same steps to install Mojave and used DSDT patch for audio. Everything works fine except the app store as it freezes the whole system. I searched everywhere on community and could not find proper solution.

I have a HP EliteDesk 800 G1 TWR, seems to me this guide should work, but after booting from my USB-drive (prior to install) the machine boots back up... Help?

Questions about the 600/800 G1 are off topic in this thread. Post in a thread specific to that model. All I can say about the Haswell based 600/800 models is that you are better off choosing a Dell Optiplex 7020/9020 instead. Any Haswell CPU with HD4600 will work in those models. Likewise for the ram.

There is no good reason why this guide would work as it's not written for a Haswell/Q87 chipset computer. There were major changes made by Intel in the transition from Ivy Bridge to Haswell, this quide will not work for an Elite 800 G1. Haswell brought better energy efficiency among other things but also created new problems for hackintoshes. 3rd gen Ivy Bridge based PCs were probably the most hackinosh friendly of all time.

I updated macOS to Catalina and tried this after the update. Didn't work. I don't think I have installed Voodoo or AppleHDA Disable kexts.

How to Activate ALC221 Audio and your Front Microphone Jack
In post #2 of this thread, I posted a guide to patch your DSDT for working ALC221 audio. That patch doesn't enable the front combo Mic/Headphone jack. If you absolutely need that Mic input to work, you can now use an SSDT and the Codec Commander kext + a minor config.plist edit to get a working Mic jack . If you don't use that front mic jack, simply continue to use your previously patched DSDT for working ALC221 audio. Credit for the ALC221 SSDT.aml goes to: Sniki

0. Remove the VoodooHDA and AppleHDA Disabler kexts if you had installed those previously.

  1. Remove your patched DSDT from Clover/ACPI/patched and put it in a folder to keep as a backup option.
  2. Back up your current working Clover config.plist. You could put it in the same folder as your patched DSDT.
(this is done in case your edits don't work or the new config.plist gets corrupted some how.)

3. Open your system drive's Clover config.plist with a plist editor and make the following change of the Audio Layout ID from 11 to 0. (The DSDT patching guide suggested the change to 11. Yours may already be set to 0)

4. Edit your system drive's Clover config.plist with the following entry in the Devices section. It should be entered just after the Inject Audio Layout ID section shown above. (Use a plist editor like PlistEdit Pro or BBedit to make the edit. Do not use the Mac text edit app)

Code:
<key>Properties</key>
<dict>
      <key>PciRoot(0)/Pci(0x1b,0)</key>
      <dict>
          <key>#Comment</key>
          <string>Realtek ALC221 Audio Configuration</string>
          <key>hda-gfx</key>
          <string>onboard-1</string>
          <key>layout-id</key>
          <integer>11</integer>
      </dict>
</dict>

Here's how it should look when you've finished the edit:

  1. Download the two attached files, RehabMan-Codec Commander kext and the SSDT for ALC221
  2. Install Codec Commander to /L/E/ with Kextbeast
  3. Drag and drop the SSDT-ALC221.aml into your Clover/ACPI/patched folder
  4. Make sure you've got the latest versions of Lilu and AppleALC kexts installed to /L/E
  5. Reboot and test out your front combo mic/headphone jack

I no longer own the 8300 so unfortunately I can't test what will work for that audio codec and Catalina. You could look at Sniki's HP 8300 guide to see what he's doing in Catalina to enable that.

Note for you or anyone that wants to try that UEFI hotpatching method for Catalina, if you want to use that guide a clean install is mandatory for it to work. You can't simply upgrade from Mojave installed with this guide to Catalina and that guide. They are very different approaches to hackintoshing the HP 8300. Sniki has now switched to Virtualsmc instead of Fakesmc and that alone makes the two guides incompatible.

Test out installing Catalina via Sniki's guide I've linked above. Remove your Mojave SSD and install to a clean new SSD and compare the results. Anyone with a medium level of hackintosh experience can implement that guide. It doesn't use Unibeast or Multibeast but is clearly written and easy to follow.

Today's Newegg Shell Shocker - i7-3770 HP 8300 SFF with 128 GB SSD for $212.99

This has literally everything you need to run Mojave or even the Latest Catalina. The HD4000 graphics are fully supported in Catalina. Great choice as a 2nd hackintosh or to give to another family member that needs an upgrade from an old and slow virus infected Windows 7 PC. If you will be using Unibeast/Multibeast method then install Mojave first and upgrade to Catalina later on. All Windows 7 support ends in mid January 2020 so no one should still use that on a PC connected to the internet.

Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015, but extended support won’t end until January 14, 2020. Find out the difference between mainstream and extended support.

Support for Windows 7 will be discontinued, but the software will continue to function. After January 14, 2020, if your computer is running Windows 7, it will no longer receive security updates. Therefore, it's important that you move to a modern operating system such as Windows 10 or macOS, which can provide the latest security updates to help keep you and your data safer. In addition, Microsoft customer service will no longer be available to provide Windows 7 technical support.
