I have just installed 10.14.6 on my HP Envy 15 as105tu. I'm tackling problems one by one. The first issue is that my Synaptics touched is detected as a mouse. As a result there is no tap-to-click feature available. Every time I had to perform a physical click which is very annoying. Scrolling gestures on the other hand are working fine. Someone please tell me what I'm missing please?

Attached are the problem reporting files.

I wish I knew the answer.. I will post if I figure it out. It's driving me nuts as well - everything else is working GREAT and I have the same laptop w/High Sierra no problems whatsoever.

What kills me is the tap (the main thing to me) works FINE until you login - you can use it to select username, type your password, and tap next with no problems.. then nothing. So it's not hardware. Same for you? I'm on HP ProBooks and Elitebooks w/same results.

Believe it or not, I found a kinda-sorta solution. (I was literally in the middle of trying different versions, version parts, rig-jobs etc) when I stumbled on your post on a Google search.

It works FINE - at least when not using an administrator account. At least the gestures I use (single tap/double tap only really I think). Logging in as an admin account kills the tap. Logging out / back in usually restores it. Using it as an admin account after logging in without admin access and logging back out works fine too most of the time.

Don't ask me. I removed the admin access from the account I used to install it and made another one w/admin access for when I need it and it works for me. Good security practice anyway even tho I really have nothing I could care about on this box.

Hope this helps - or hope it helps RehabMan or someone take a look at the code and see if they can figure out what the hell the problem is - can't be anything big!! I wish I had the time to do so myself but I haven't done coding in ages and don't even have time to try/

I actually haven’t tried whether the tap is working at login screen or not. But thank you anyways...

I had that kind of behaviour on my hp 250 g6 at my beginnings.. i can remember fixing this by installing touchpad pref pane from another system version (El Capitan actually) and it did activated the "clic" touch function on Mojave. Hope this will do for you.

Also, I don't know if I mentioned this before or not and I'm on my way to work like in a hurry lol...

It (non-admin account and enter credentials when needed is good practice anyway and in no way to me a pita compared to windows) works like a champ on Catalina too. I've got two laptops running Catalina (I'm on one right now) and a third to upgrade when I get home. I just got Mojave working on both for kicks (they were getting rebuild anyway), upgraded Clover, and upgraded to Catalina via App Store like normal. I'm waiting on Broadcom cards but kexts from HS have Atheros 9xxx cards working fine for now too! (I have a Broadcom something in one and it is much better but the Ath works fine.)

Everything I use works.. right/left two finger swipes, tap, double tap, etc.. three finger up works sometimes even tho I understand it shouldnt at all :) Probably being detected as something different. I haven't screwed with some of the funky gestures.

Edit: Oh yeah just a general note for all cuz I mentioned it: if you haven't tried it or screwed with it in an Apple store IMHO Catalina is *REALLY* nice!
