Hi! I've been trying to build a decent hackintosh with this laptop. Tested mojave and high sierra so far. On both installs the only way it worked was using the ssdt's, kexts and config.plist provided by:

https://github.com/coisadepro/Vostro-5470-Hackintosh

Following the guide:

The problem is that this link migh work okay for sierra, which I wasn't able to install but possibly could, but c'mon sierra is already so old and is the last thing to try. This laptop's cmos is quite weird and mac doesn't know how to shut it down properly. A lot of information can also be found in the thread: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...sierra-10-12-5-post-installation-help.244040/ which is from the same guy of the github link. Basically when you try to shut it down either it restarts again or gets stuck in a black screen. And after you force shut it down with the power button because the system got frost in the shutting down process or whenever, a cmos reset is required to boot again. The charging led will just blink and the computer doesn't turn on. I've already reseted this cmos so much that the battery pin and cmos battery pin are getting destroyed.... I'm already thinking on adapting a external switch to do this procedure. But don't worry about it, this is an old laptop and this is a just for fun experiment.

In the test with mojave sound didn't work, the igpu didn't work but still had 4mb of video memory showing up on about this mac, the screen was with ha real weird coloration but it still worked. Mojave was the nicer to shut down. After applying the patch: https://github.com/coisadepro/5470-shutdown-patch the system reboots to the clover EFI screen and I then use the EFI shell and run "reset -s" so it gracefully shuts down then! Problem is audio also doesn't work with mojave....

With high sierra the igpu works, I get my 1500 mb of video memory and the colors are ok. The audio also worked if I'm using these kexts:
393864

Which is obviously a mess and was causing this issue after a forced shutdown:
393865

393866

I think "timeout [0] busy (60s) 'IGPU' " is the issue there! The system get's stuck on the last screen but is still responsive, like it reports if i plug an usb or disconect ethernet cable, but the graphical session wont come up! Notice that the EFI file used there worked so far for installing the system and booting some times, that problem only happened after a shutdown failure and that is only for high sierra... Since I had a better trick for shutting down mojave.

After getting someone's help to clean up the kexts, seems like that problem got solved, but the audio doesn't work anymore, not sure why?. I'm attaching the current EFI file, which is EFI2.zip, while EFI.zip is the one where the audio works but the IGPU problem happens. In the mojave installation I used the EFI.zip

What I really want with this thread, if you read so far, and I thank you for it, is to learn something... I know the easier solution now is just install sierra and have it like the "coisadepro" installation. But no dark theme?? :p Maybe there's a way to change that config.plist so the integrated graphics works?? and in mojave shutdown works much better with the reset -s workaround. What is provably missing now that audio doesn't work but it was working before? What actually causes the IGPU problem there? How to recover mac from such forced shutdown errors? I'm always restoring a backup and this take 2 hours. What can you guys say about all this? Any help is welcome. My main goal is to get mojave running on this, the problem is I don't have enough knowledge to fix this config.plist correctly for my IGPU (noticed that there are many patches there for this laptop).

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

So... I somehow managed to make some progress.

Updated my high sierra to mojave using a usb installer since launching the installer.app from the running mac didn't work. I'm using the attached EFI file, sound doesn't work but that doesn't matter to me atm (I'm using airport to stream to a linux machine all the sound using shairport-sync). But might be not that hard to fix the sound...

Shutdown somewhat works, by running "sudo shutdown -h now" and with the attached EFI, the computer turns off gracefully and I am able to start without having to do a cmos reset!! So i created a fast poweroff shell script. I also installed the coisadepro shutdown patch, not sure if it has any effect on this. Shutdown from the graphical interface still results in a restart, even after I tried to apply the rehabman's shutdown patch for xhci restarts...

This EFI might be full of useless stuff and one of them might be the DSDT file i patched there, but I'm happy I'm at a point the igpu works, and I cant power it on and off without having to diassemble it all the time... Well im putting the screws back again.

Following this thread. I've tried so many things already to fix that shutdown problem.

Did you try a mojave(10.14) fresh install gabrielfvalve? If you try so, use my EFI file (https://www.tonymacx86.com/attachments/efi-zip.394454/)and install Rehabman's Clover(https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/clover/downloads/Clover_v2.4k_r4701.RM-4963.ca6cca7c.zip). My EFI already contains the right config.plist and the SSDT's from coisadepro.

To turn it off properly, or at least without needing to do a cmos reset try running "shutdown -h now" on the mojave's command line and 2 things can possibly happen (at least on my case)

1. Less likely but randomly happens. It gets stuck on a black screen after like 2 minutes. Then don't forcefully shut it down by holding power button. Hit the return key (Enter) and you will see the right most led blinking (hard drive usage). When it stops blinking hit enter again and wait one more minute or so. I wont turn off but make sure if you press the Return key there's no more led blinking. At this point you can hold the power button and forcefully shut down. A cmos reset wont be needed if you do this and you can normally power it up again.

2. Happens on almost every shutdown with mojave I had. It reboots! Then you can go to the uefi shell on Clover menu and you can run the command "reset -s".

One thing I couldn't get working at all is audio from the speakers and the mics in mojave. Do you have any idea what kexts would be necessary for this (besdies what I already have on my EFI of course)?

Wish I could do some testing, but this laptop has become my main workstation so I can't fiddle around too much

how to enable audio in mojave or High sierra , I tried everything but I did not succeed.
Well I really wish someone more experienced than me would research on this laptop. I was able to have audio on high sierra , but i had so many kexts that it was screwed up. You will be able to have audio on sierra if you do as on this github link: https://github.com/coisadepro/Vostro-5470-Hackintosh

If you want to have mojave I recommend to update from High Sierra! I currently have mojave 10.14.5... the newest. and the shutdown problem is back... Im thinking on adapting a reset cmos button :p

Hello Matt, I was able to put the audio to work on mojave on vostro 5470, I used your efi folder and made some modifications, instead of starting the kext in the efi folder I installed on the system itself, then I used voodooHDA to upload the audio and it's working . if you want the efi folder just ask me to post here. (sorry english i'm using google translator, i speak portuguese from Brazil).

What so great news! I am also Brazilian but I don't think other languages are allowed here.

Yes please post your EFI folder and more details of how you installed the kexts and voodohd, if possible.
Thanks!

I'm attached to my efi, I took your efi folder that you use in Mojave and made some modifications, removed the kext from the clover bot and installed it directly on the mac with the kext wizard and added the kext VoodooHDA.

Nice! Just one more question to confirm, do you still have these shutdown problems? Does it shut down normally or do you have to reset bios all the time you want to turn it on? Because I have this issue again...
