[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

I assume you select the SSD each time your installation reboots?

also put verbose boot argument so you can see the details of any error (I believe the config.plist of #901 has not set this)
Dear HedgeHog2k,

Thanks for your quick reply! Yes, always chose the SSD after first reboot. I just tried the -v flag, but there don´t seem to be any specific error messages, at least the system does not stop at a certain point. Is there any way to look at a bootlog file? I did not really find a guide for this.

Dear all,

I recently acquired an Intel NUC 8i7BEH with 32GB Ram and an Samsung Evo Plus 970 NVME. Following every step from the excellent post #901 in this thread (updating SSD to newest firmware, creating USB with Unibeast, replacing EFI-Folder), I am able so start the Mojave installation up until the point "15 Minutes Remaining" after choosing the language, from that moment on the system keeps rebooting and I always end up in the Clover menu, where I can choose between starting the installation from the USB-Stick or the Samsung SSD. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated!

Mike
If I am understanding you correctly that is normal behavior, when it restarts and you get back to the Clover Boot screen choose Install Mojave again and the installation will proceed. It will likely restart one more time but then you'll end up at the set up screens.

Indeed, as any normal macos installation you will encounter a few reboots during installation (I think 3 or 4 time) the only difference here you will each time be presented with the clover boot menu from you bootable USB (remember your SSD is not yet bootable at this time).
You just have to select to continue installation from ssd (not usb, I guess that you restart the installation then) as many times is needed. At some point you get to the macos configuration screens (where you enter your icloud credentials etc)

So does anybody also have the issue with the volume control being greyed out in macos? I see 5 output devices:
- Internal speakers
- My monitor
- 2 apple tv's
- Sonos

When I select my monitor the volume control is greyed out.

Was it working before the update or no? Have you tried a different cable?

HDMI and DisplayPort connectors are digital only and as every direct digital output has no volume control in macOS.

Then how do you do volume up/down ?! This worked perfectly in windows 10, same hardware different operating system.. I could use my volup/voldown/mute on my surface keyboard just fine.

also when I connect my macbook pro (displayport) to that same monitor I can control the volume just fine using my magic keyboard or with the volume slider :)

Its the same for me, HDMI output is greyed out. I control volume either by my, monitor which has a digital volume via the display settings, or by the receiver in the living room.

I don’t believe this is normal behaviour. Especially it works perfectly fine with my macbook pro.

edit: on second thought, on my macbook it us offcourse the internal speakers you control.. But I’m 100% sure it worked on win10 installed on my nuc..

It's a hackintosh so you have to know going into it not everything works the same, if it works at all.
