With an up-to-date graphics card, our Z77 motherboard based system will last 10 years or more, although they will be only good for general purpose computing. I expect mine to use the same audio recording equipment until something breaks.

Now, I want to put to bed this "Vanilla" vs. Uni/MultiBeast. Uni/MultiBeast are "automated" vanilla installation and post install kext, Clover and config.plist generation. Nothing is modified except the config.plist by MultiBeast. The two tonymacx86 just automation the time consumming so called vanilla method. Nuff said.
OH, thank you for this clarity. Why THE F*&% :mad:do people say that our method on this site isn't Vanilla:banghead:? I have been using TonyMacX86 methods for years. Even had custom DSDTs made:wave::confused:. Always (Other then my mis steps) have enjoyed our methods. Anyway, enough rambling.
I appreciate all your help.

Stork,

I purchased a high resolution Asus monitor with a max resolution of 2560 x 1440 over HDMI. I have an Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge HD Graphics 4000 processor running Mojave 10.14.5. Will this monitor work with the on-board HDMI on the GA-Z77X-UP5-TH? Or do I need a graphics card?

Check your motherboard's User Manual, the front gray pages. It should list the maximum resolution the on-board HDMI will support. Unfortunately, I bet it only supports 1080p. If it does only support 1080p, make sure the graphics card will support 2560x1440 over the HDMI @ 60Hz.

Stork, It does only support 1080p. I have purchased a graphics card that will support 2560x1440 over the HDMI @ 60Hz. I've only used a DVI monitor. Are there Clover settings I need to change in order for the HDMI port to work at the proper resolution? Thanks for all your help. I've followed your builds since I started hackintoshing. So far, everything has been stable and easy to configure.

Stork,

I've gone ahead and purchased the Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 570 4GB graphics card. I've always used the on-board graphics and this is my first time setting up my system with a graphics card. I've read other posts that say this card runs OOB.

Since you've used the GA-Z77X-UP5 TH board, can you direct me to what BIOS settings, MultiBeast Config and kexts I may need for this card. I've downloaded Lilu and WhateverGreen kekts. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Install Luli and WhateverGreen kexts.

Shut down and install your RX 580.

Boot up and using my procedure in MyHero II Post Installation section, determine if the RX 580's FrameBuffer is Orinoco. If it is, you're done. If not, then use my procedure to mod the config.plist file to make the RX 580's FrameBuffer Orinoco.

I followed the instructions to change the FrameBuffer to Orinoco. After reboot I lost the HDMI signal. I have black screen now. It was working before. When it was working, I had to unplug & plug in the HDMI cable in order for my screen to work. Now it does not come on at all.

Strange. I've always used DVI or DP connections. @pastrychef, do you have any comments?

I don't think that vit96969 (developer of WhateverGreen) recommends injection of framebuffer.

HDMI has always been a little spotty for me... It sounds like you may need a higher quality cable. You can also try lowering refresh to 50Hz to see if it helps.
