Hello,

I have Asus z170 pro gaming, i7 6700k, Samsung 970 evo plus 500gb, rx 580 OC @ 240hz
- Mojave 10.14.6 working perfectly.
But something bit me last night and I purchased Gigabyte z390 M motherboard and i9 9900k
Now how can i transfer the nvme drive to this new setup, and what are the changes required ?
Please help!!!

bump !!!
Once i move from i7 6700k to i9 9900k - i will only have one working setup, in one chassis, so i need to make any changes beforehand.
Please help !!!

  • Please Note your Title is emphasizing the 2 Intel CPUs rather than the the 2 different Motherboards from two different Manufacturers with different philosophies in modifying their BIOS for their main client, Microsoft!

  • Motherboard has the major integrated Chips like the Intel 100 Series vs Intel 300 Series, the different SATA, USB, Ethernet, Audio, Controllers, in addition to the different Intel Processor associated Intel HD 530 vs Intel HD 630 that determine what type of kexts and special configurations you might need to install macOS on that hardware.
  • You must expect changes in BIOS setup in the GA-Z390 M and editing the CLOVER inside the Samsung 970 evo plus before transfer to the new System to avoid major KPs. You should naturally edit config.plist to suite the BIOS and the contents of CLOVER/drivers64UEFI and CLOVER/kexts /Other you should have edited as hinted above.
  • You should not forget to take Verbose boot screen shots and get ready with Zipped CLOVER and BIOS screen shots , should you encounter problems and need to seek Forum help.

  1. Get a working EFI folder for your Z390 M.
  2. Go to your Z170 system, mount the EFI partition of your Samsung 970 EVO.
  3. Replace the EFI folder with the one for the Z390 M.
  4. Shut down your Z170 system.
  5. Pull the Samsung 970 EVO.
  6. Plug it in to the Z390 M system.
  7. Boot from the Samsung 970 EVO.

You can try this one... It's far from perfect but I can boot my Z390 M from it...

You should use everything. Fill in the Serial, Board Serial, and UUID in config.plist.
