[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Folks I believe the Audio issue from my cheap speakers and not the computer. I want to make it very clear that this is the best build and most detailed step by step. You are doing here for free what another person is stealing verbatim and trying to sell to people as their expertise for donations on YouTube. You and the people at this site provide an incredible service for all your hard work. I just want to offer a big thanks to you and everyone who collaborated on thos build. I will be posting my specs in the coming days if there is interest - I just followed your build guide to the letter and works very well. I am still working on getting FaceTime and messenger working but they are not a top priority for me at their moment. Thank you

I'm running VirtualSMC 1.0.7 and clover r5045, no problems here. I updated what I could and moved the drivers64uefi contents to CLOVER/drivers/UEFI/ then I deleted the drivers64uefi directory. Any file that ended with "-64" I removed that from the file name.

thanks, mate!
this might be exactly what I need to fix my issues with VirtualSMC.
Fortunately I have a cloned system running of a TB2 drive so I can boot into that and mess things up when I want :D

I am also still running Clover 4934 which maybe doesn't play well with VirtualSMC 1.07.
Whilst we're at it, anyone running an i9-9900K?

having fan control is why I want to run VirtualSMC.
my cores heat up while rendering in Fusion 360.
I have a Corsair H100i Pro which works well under windows (fan control by iCue) but even setting the fans at full speed in the Bios won't do this any good, I still get alerts from HWMonitor

I’ve got confirmation that the new 2019 Lg ultrafine 5K is not working at 5K with Designare. Hopefully I can get the txt to find out what’s doing in with the new display.
Yes, it's totally confirmed now. The user tried with a DP 1.4 cable just to make sure but he's still getting DP1.2 output with new LG 2019 + Designare. So officially there's no way to run the 2019 LG Ultrafine 5k at full 5k on Designare.

Hello folks,

I have finally decided it is time to upgrade my aging 4770k system, and I am looking into a z390 designare, 9900k system.

This amazing guide and truly gigantic thread are helping me tremendously choosing the most compatible parts, but there is one piece of information that I seem not to be able to locate, and it is about memory.

I will need as much memory as I can possibly run on this system in a stable way. I believe recently a BIOS update made this board compatible with high density memory sticks that would let it reach 128GB of memory, has anybody tried this?

And if not, has anybody tried to compile a list of memory brands and models that have seen successful Hackintosh builds with 64GB? I have downloaded the document from gigabyte website with the memory that the board manufacturer has qualified, but is it reliable for Hackintosh use?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.
My list: #6,406
I also checked the Qualified Vendor List and then went searching and comparing for price and value. In my case I went with 3000Mhz HyperX Predator. 3000Mhz choice was also after seeing Linus Tech Tips about Ram speeds.

Did a quick test:
Intel Core i9 9900K
64GB memory
Samsung NVME 970 Plus 1TB
Radeon RX Vega 56 8 GB

export ProRes422
4K: 16 sec
8K: 1.06 minutes

Almost no CPU and Graphics card load.
The Graphics card has 100% memory load..
Intel Core i9 9900K
64GB memory
Samsung EVO 970 1TB
Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8 GB

5K: 0:16
5K X5: 1:10
8K: 0:41
Here goes..

FCPX 10.4.6
Background render: off
Shared as: Master file -> Video/Audio, Apple ProRes 422
Clocked from: press of 'Save' to QuickTime popping up.

5K = 10.3s
5K - X5 = 36.2s
8k = 38.0s

Specs:
iMac 19,1
i9700k
Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8GD5 Nitro+ lite
32GB DDR4 3000MHz
M.2 970 EVO 500GB

A bit surprised by the fact that my 8k is slower than the 5k x5? Haven't really checked anything out about this yet, but so far I've only seen results of 8k rendering faster than 5k x5.
2 (different) RX580's and a Vega 56 card and all 3 different times! Food for thought...

I ran into this updating everything the other day. My solution was to downgrade clover back to version 4920. VirtualSMC worked after that.
I don't know if it helps, but I'm running VirtualSMC 1.0.7 and Clover build 5045 with absolutely no issues. My setup is a little unusual in that I am running with iGPU disabled, Model iMacPro1,1, AptioMemoryFix.efi, and no WhateverGreen.

But the system is extremely stable. (Overclocked i9-9900K - 8Cores x 5.0GHz and XMP DDR4 3200 Memory)

This is strange that your getting an alarm. Are you overclocked? Can you run a a test like Adia64 in windows and not get the alarms?

In order to better understand this behavior, can you please list the following:
  • M2M slot --> Windows boot disk
  • M2P slot --> Mojave boot disk
  • SATA 0 --> (cannot be used if Mojave boot disk is PCIe NVMe)
  • SATA 1 --> ?
  • SATA 2 --> ?
  • SATA 3 --> ?
  • SATA 4 --> (cannot be used if Windows boot disk is PCIe NVMe)
  • SATA 5 --> (cannot be used if Windows boot disk is PCIe NVMe)
It is very close to the configuration you posted:
M2M slot --> Windows boot disk (connected to SATA 4/5)
M2P slot --> Mojave boot disk (connected to SATA 1)
SATA 0 --> empty
SATA 1 --> cannot be used
SATA 2 --> DATA Disk
SATA 3 --> Backup Disk
SATA 4 --> cannot be used
SATA 5 --> cannot be used

I have now interchanged Windows and Mojave bootdisks and the last WIN updates did not harm my system

I'm about to PM two files to you:
  • SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-HP-V3-NO-P0-P3-RP21.aml
  • SSDT-DTPG.aml
In the spirit of openness (and to follow forum rules) we'll discuss these files here in public. The only thing sent by private mail will be the files themselves, in a deliberate attempt to keep the exposure limited. Please do not share or re-post these files anywhere else at this time.

Also note that this particular SSDT-DTPG.aml is a new version; so the old one must be backed up and replaced by this one.

With the new SSDT we get the following excerpt from the kernel log:

kernel: (AppleThunderboltNHI) AppleThunderboltNHIType3::setupPowerSavings - notification based runtime power management

kernel: (AppleThunderboltNHI) Thunderbolt 255 PCI - LS=0x7043 LC=0x0040 SS=0x0140 SC=0x0008 PMCSR=0x0000 RT=0x0000 NLRT=0xffffffff LWRT=0xffffffff PRRT=0xffffffff TRT=0x0000 TNLRT=0x0000 TLWRT=0x0000 TPRRT=0x0000 TLUP=0x0001

kernel: (AppleThunderboltNHI) Thunderbolt 255 PCI - LS=0x7043 LC=0x0040 SS=0x0140 SC=0x0008 PMCSR=0x0000 RT=0x0000 NLRT=0xffffffff LWRT=0xffffffff PRRT=0xffffffff TRT=0x0000 TNLRT=0x0000 TLWRT=0x0000 TPRRT=0x0000 TLUP=0x0001

This shows that:
  • Thunderbolt notification based runtime power management is enabled.
  • However, 3 properties are still disabled:
    • NLRT
    • LWRT
    • PRRT
With the standard Thunderbolt SSDT, the kernel log looks like this:

kernel: (AppleThunderboltNHI) Thunderbolt runtime power conservation disabled.

kernel: (AppleThunderboltNHI) Thunderbolt 255 PCI - LS=0x7043 LC=0x0040 SS=0x0140 SC=0x0008 PMCSR=0x0000 RT=0xffffffff NLRT=0xffffffff LWRT=0xffffffff PRRT=0xffffffff TRT=0x0000 TNLRT=0x0000 TLWRT=0x0000 TPRRT=0x0000 TLUP=0x0001

kernel: (AppleThunderboltNHI) Thunderbolt 255 PCI - LS=0x7043 LC=0x0040 SS=0x0140 SC=0x0008 PMCSR=0x0000 RT=0xffffffff NLRT=0xffffffff LWRT=0xffffffff PRRT=0xffffffff TRT=0x0000 TNLRT=0x0000 TLWRT=0x0000 TPRRT=0x0000 TLUP=0x0001

As you can see, the new SSDT changes the value of RT, but the other 3 properties are still disabled. However, IORegistryExplorer shows us this:

Are you going to release the latest versions of SSDT? Are you going to attach it to the instructions? Can I get a copy to test out?

Thank you!! That explains a lot, it had the aptiomemfix driver in there which totally explains the error I was getting. All good now on 5045!
