[Success] ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX + TB3 + iGPU + Mojave + SFF Build

Oh, were you able to get the Kensington dock's DisplayPort port working with iGPU?

Were you able to get it working with a discrete GPU as well? (Can the motherboard even route display buffer data from the GPU to the TB3 port to the DisplayPort port on the dock?) Just curious.

It worked without using the RX580 (not connected via HDMI or DP), otherwise you get glitches.

Well and for your last questions, that was my plan from the beginnig, after i realized that you cant use an internal TB3 port for transfering DGPU Data. On Windows 10, there seems to be a way with a loss of frames, by some software. The best and easist way is to use the gigabyte titan ridge card, where you cant input your Displayport from your DGPU and the go out with TB3.
So you right now if you want the full TB3 experience you need a seperate Titan ridge card and a Board that supports it by having an internal TB3 Header : )

/edit
In conclusion, i would not recommend the Asrock Z390 Gaming ITX AC, except you need an mini itx board with a TB3 port, but the TB3 is totally crippled (low power version, bandwith is not max 40 but something more like 18).

I already ordered an custom mini itx case from china so I'm stuck with this terrible board. (Thank Asrock, they saved about 2 dollars for a crippled TB3 controller.) If you plan a small build, go with the Gigabyte Gaming Z390M in Combination with the Gigabyte Titan Ridge Card (together about 10 bucks more expensive the the Asrock). You will get full TB3 support with 40Gbits and also you can push your DGPU Signal through, but of the cost that you will have an micro ATX Board.

I've not tested other settings as sleep/wake works.

I believe hex and decimal values below 8 amount to the same when added:

kDarkWakeFlagHIDTickleLate = 0x02
DarkWakeFlagGraphicsPowerState1 = 0x0200
kDarkWakeFlagAudioNotSuppressed = 0x0400
-------
sum= 8

Here are the pop-up options in Clover:

I believe these used to be valid, but aren't any longer. See this post from 2012 where values 8 and 10 are discussed. But the enum values included kDarkWakeFlagIgnoreDiskIOInDark, kDarkWakeFlagIgnoreDiskIOAlways, and kDarkWakeFlagIgnoreDiskIOMask back then. They seem to have been removed in later releases by Apple.

Thank you for the answer.
Meanwhile I updated WhateverGreen to latest version and it possibly solved the random reboots. I say possibly as it happened only sometimes, so it remains to be seen...

Hi @rj510,

I recently got rid of my GPU and started using the Intel HD Graphics for this board.
Since then I am experiencing random reboots, so it clearly has to do something with the Graphics. Have you had this? Any idea what it can be?

I've not seen this. With the iGPU, I use this build for running a music server (Roon) and it runs 24/7 without issue.

Are you using the latest kexts?

Yes as I mentioned above it seemed that updating WhateverGreen fixed the issue. I also see in WhateverGreen commit log a note about KPs starting with 10.14.4, so that is probably what I was experiencing.

Thanks for everyone in this thread! Sleep and wake works almost perfect. Only problem is when computer goes to sleep from a log in screen after turning power on it doesn't want to stay in sleep. Got my HDMI audio working from RX 580 with appleALC and updated to the latest Mojave without any problems!

I'm little bit wondering about the bootup time. It takes about 30 seconds to boot from my NVMe (Samsung 970 EVO Plus with latest firmware) to the log in screen. Windows takes couple of seconds from a regular SSD. Is this normal?

One more question, also about HD Intel graphics.
Occasionally, the screen blacks out for about 1-2 seconds and then image returns as if nothing happened. Is this the "flickering" you were referring to earlier?

Can i just say thank you! This has been a great resource for my hack build. I essentially got it up and running in one evening. Nearly all the hardware is the same but i've done it in a Dan A4 with an asetek AIO. The thing is great! Tomorrow i'll receive the last component. The Wifi/BT card. I found a BCM94350ZAE for £10. I've removed the intel card and the side of the shield so i can just drop the new card in without having to take the mobo out to access screws. Does anyone know if i'll have to alter anything to make the BCM94350ZAE function?

Just letting you know I get the same issue using a different repo (bydavy) on Github, however, the flicker is for a fraction of a second.
