[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hey guys,

How would I modify the "disable GPU in slot two" SSDT to disable for slot one?

Thanks!
Please try the attached file by copying it to the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder.

Its 10.14.6, and its a recently installed new rug. It was working previously, and I am also facing one more issue.
Can you take a video of the first problem with your smartphone (unable to login to Mojave) and share it? I have never seen this issue so the video will help.
If I turn off the LED for long period of time, I am getting no signal on the screen even after pressing any key on keyboard, and this can only be fixed when I unplug the HDMI cable from RX 580 and plug it back again.

Please helP me with the fix for this also.
First thing to try is to enable CSM Support in BIOS.

You just pointed us to 2 very good peripherals:
  • A 3-pole umbilical antenna. I’ll purchase one myself! [update: order placed]
  • A PCIe x4 SATA card with Mac compatibility. In the build guide you will see that the suggested SATA cards are all x1, so I’ll add this to the list.
Just received the outboard 3-pole antenna and mounted it about 4 feet from the back of the computer. It has a magnetic mounting base, so it is simply snapped to the steel leg under the desk.

Here are the before and after results:
With Fenvi Antenna.png With Outboard Antenna.png

We can see that RSSI (signal) improved from -66 dBm to -56 dBm (decibels per milliwatt), which is a very significant 10 dBm improvement. This is a 10x improvement in power (decibels are logarithmic). Noise was low to begin with, and remains unchanged (when screenshot was taken). At this moment, Noise has decreased by 3 dBm to -87 dBm.

Hi CaseySJ,

Yes, I've tried both darkwake=0 and no darkwake at all. Sleeping seems to work only twice.
Just performed four successful sleep/wake cycles in a row (no darkwake). Each cycle consisted of:
  1. Apple Menu --> Sleep (user triggered sleep instead of idle sleep)
  2. Let the system sleep for 30 to 40 seconds
  3. Press key on keyboard to invoke Stage 1 Wake (partial wake)
  4. Wait 10 seconds
  5. Press key again to invoke Full Wake (monitor turns on, login prompt appears)
  6. Then use the system normally for 5-10 minutes
  7. Return to Step 1 three more times

Thanks for this thread, the guide and all the info! I have CPU: Intel i7 8700k GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX580 4gb nitro+ and Fenvi BCM94360CS2 PCIe card (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33031773766.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.12104c4d7T7zqq) and Designare Z390 - the cpu and gpu are listed as compatible in "Is this Guide Applicable to Other Configurations" the fenvi card is not the same as in this guide. I am planning on using the machine for 4k video editing and music production (I need TB3 to work). Can I use the guide as it is, or do I need to make some changes?

Hello @miffro, the CPU, GPU, and Fenvi FV-HB1200 are all compatible with this build guide. Are you planning to use the Designare Z390 motherboard as well?

The Sapphire Nitro+ might require enabling CSM Support in BIOS.

Yes, using the Designare Z390 motherboard. Thanks for answering so quick. This is the only thing I may have to change? "Sapphire Nitro+ might require enabling CSM Support in BIOS." ? Sounds good!

@joevt I use the Z390 and the 5 SATA ports of the board itself. Thanks
If you use a M.2 drive, it needs to be NVMe and only the M2P slot can be used. None of the 5 SATA drives should be connected to "SATA3 0". They should be connected to SATA3 1,2,3,4,5

Delete the raid, and test each drive individually. Which benchmark are you using? Blackmagic or AJA are simple enough. Create a raid with 2 drives, then 3, then 4, then 5. Check the speed of each size to see how it the raid scales.

Install pciutils and use "sudo lspci -nnvv" to check the link width and speed of all your PCIe devices in the chain. You could also try my pcitree.sh script which may be easier to read.

Hi Casey/Hackers

I have not seen BruceX Scores better than 7s-ish,
I was wondering if this was just coincidence or the test is too short for new systems.

Wanting to upgrade to a Designare / 9900k system, trying to see if it will be any faster.
I recently got two RX580s to work in my old X79/4930k system, and the scores are surprisingly good.

Attached is an updated BruceX Test,Could you please run this :)
Standard 5k
5K X5 (which is just 5 copies of the original)
New 8k Version

My System (ProRes 422)
Mojave 10.14.6 | Final Cut Pro X 10.4.6 | Dual RX580's
Bruce-X - 5K . <9s
Bruce-X - 8K . <20s
Bruce-X - 5K X5 >41s

Uh. My rig immediately wakes at the first keypress. Anyway, now sleep(via menu) worked 5 times in a row. With darkwake=0.
Only thing, after some wakes it takes a while before my mouse and keyboard become active again.
