Just did.

Another question, are you guys able to get the junction temp? I cannot get it at all even with virtualSMC kexts.. Just wondering if it is because mine's gigabyte radeon..

It would be a good idea to find a way to disable in clover or find a patch like find and replace that way you won’t have to manually remove it after system updates.

Yes, I agree, I mentioned this same thing in posts 452 and 454. :headbang:

@juliaan88, this patch you found, is it working to block it?
About the temp readings, I do not have any GPU temps, I am using FakeSMC and iStat, I couldn't even get CPU temps with VirtualSMC.

So far so good, to be honest, it takes at least a day or two for me to tell as my spikes come at very random moments!

So not gonna jinx it one more time, I will report back again tomorrow this timing.

I was using FakeSMC and HWmonitor.
I have replaced my FakeSMC with VirtualSMC but no signs of junction temperature at all.

This YouTuber explains junction temperature quite well.
I cannot find her newest compiled kext, I think I need to be her patreon to get it. Sad.

LOL, I only bought the Vii because of her video, she's misinforming people. It's not just "fixed" across the board on all platforms, clearly.

Great news on the patch, keep us posted. I'd prefer to implement the patch versus manual removal.
With the patch, is your HDMI audio output still visible in Output Devices under Sound in System Preferences? It should go away when AppleGFXHDA is not initialized.

I tried that patch, unfortunately the kernel panic returned for me. I still need to have AppleGFXHDA.kext removed to stop them. Anyone else have any ideas on a Clover patch to address this? Can something be added to WEG to properly address the flaw instead?

Eric, I am trying to get help on that as well on another thread. Hopefully we can find something workable via Clover soon. -Julian

@RehabMan do you mind breaking it down how to do that? I just want to disable AppleGFXHDA.kext via Clover.

Julian,
Right on!
I've just tried AppleHDADisabler.kext which also works as a solution if you do not need onboard audio; it disables both AppleHDA and AppleGFXHDA. Seems to me on my rig at least, you know whatever "fix" you are trying is working when the HDMI option disappears from Output Devices in system Prefs. Perhaps if a Clover fix to disable AppleGFXHDA is not easy, maybe a disabler kext which ONLY targets AppleGFXHDA could work?

Here is the HDA Disabler if you want to use it:

Eric, did it and it is good! Will update here if I find any simpler solutions
