[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

  • I still got the BT problem as before (system report > yes in USB/no information found in BT)
  • And also random crashing with high speed of CPU fan. I am checking if the CPU Power Management have any problem!
  • Sleep/ Wake now function normally :D
  • Shutdown/ restart is yet function.
  • Getting attached photo when start machine
.__. still extra miles ahead
The IOReg file you posted earlier shows that USB ports HS11 and HS12 are missing. Bluetooth connects to one of these ports, therefore Bluetooth will not work until we fix this problem. The USB SSDT looks correct so I think it's necessary to switch to iMac19,1. After installing the modified EFI folder that I provided, please run IORegistryExplorer once again and upload the file (File --> Save As...).

Please see this thread for the problem seen in screenshot:

Edit: Also try the slightly modified config.plist attached here.

Hi There! Thanks for the super great guide!!! I have just build mine today and I am in the process of installing macOS. I face a strange problem. I create the USB stick with UniBeast (10.14.6), edit Clover configuration (config.plist and OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi) added Lilu and WEG in the .../kexts/Other/ folder and finally updated my BIOS settings (F4).

I boot successfully in the macOS installer launch disk utility and created a Mojave HFS partition (tried also with AFS). I exited disk utility and highlight "Install Mojave....." and clicked on Continue. Continue becomes grey and nothing happens. The machine is not stuck (I can move the window around) but the setup never continues.

Any idea?

- processor: i7-9700k
- disk 970EVO (NOT the plus) on M2M without the heatsink
- already tried different usb sticks on different ports
- no discrete card connected to screen through HDMI

Thanks!!!!!!
In Disk Utility, are you clicking on View --> Show All Devices and then selecting the parent name of your Mojave SSD? When you click Erase you will then see 3 settings:
  • Name: Type Mojave
  • Format: Select APFS
  • Scheme: Select GUID Partition Table

Hi Guys,

First i want to thank @CaseySJ and all you here for this amazing community!

I have just build my new Hackintosh and followed all the steps for this build. But, when booting, it skips the BIOS and CLOVER boot screen and loads directly to Mojave when I connect my monitor to the RX 580.
I can only see the BIOS splash screen when connecting my monitor to the iGPU.

Maybe some one can help me to solve this issue so i can display the BIOS splash screen and clover screen with my RX 580.

Here is my Build:

macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (when downloading the Mojave install, I didn't realize they just released the new 10.14.6 update, and I was thinking it was 10.14.5. But the installation went smooth)

Motherboard: Gigabyte Designare Z390 (BIOS Version F7)
CPU: Intel i9-9900K
RAM: 32GB Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 3200MHZ 2x16GB CL18
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB (with latest firmware)
Graphics Card: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 (with 8GB of Memory)
Audio Interface: UAD Apollo Twin (Working correctly on Thunderbolt 3 with Thunderbolt adapter THB2/THB3)

I have already try to disable and to enable iGPU but with the same results... never get the BIOS Splash screen and clover thru the RX 580...

Without Bios Screen i can't enter the bios and without Clover Boot Manaager i can't select a different OS like Windows so it's very important to me to have this working.

I want to thank you guys !!

@svandive - did you ever get Netflix working in Safari. I'm interested to close this in my system.
I did. It seems turning off CSM in the UEFI did the trick. Interesting enough all of my issues around video, (only having one DP port working and all the others showing very odd behaviors, all related to having CSM enabled. However, if I disable CSM, I can no longer see my boot drive. The machine boots just fine but I can’t see the various boot drives and PXE boot options to choose from when I’m int he UEFI.... Go figure...

@CaseySJ , just went over and double checked the BIOS setting and had to change Security Level from User Authorization to No Security under Thunderbolt menus. And everything works now! Can be hot plugged now as well which never happened on Z77x-up5!

So you can add Akitio Thunder2 Quad enclosure to your list as working device.

Thanks!!
Hi Casey! I have GA-Z87X-UD7-TH - can you share ssdt.aml for your z77 board?

Hi guys,

I have built my hackintosh from the hardware and relying on some parts of this guide, everything works perfectly ... Congratulate the creator of the post, thank @CaseySJ.

For purely cosmetics I would like to optimize the boot and leave it exactly the same as any genuine apple computer. When I select the Apple Mojave partition inside the Clover boot (picture1), then the apple logo appears correctly, after a few seconds appear purple stripes across the screen (picture 2), as if there was an error graph, then, the screen is completely black (picture3), after a few seconds, the end of the MacOS load appears (picture 4) and finally the Mojave screen appears to login to the system (picture 5).

Does anyone know how to go from picture 2 without the graphic errors to picture 5 directly, not showing pictures 3 and 4?

My hackintosh works great, I am very happy with his performance, I would like to solve this error to complete the performances to 100%.

My Hackintosh works in Mojave 10.14.6 with a Gigabyte Z390 Designare, i9 9900k and a Sapphire Plus AMD RX580.

The Rx 580 is perfectly recognized into Mojave 10.14.6, its performance in applications such as Final Cut Pro, etc. is very good. The Rx 580 is install into PCIe 1 Slot (x16), the iGPU integred in G-Z390 is disabled.

Thanks for your help.

Hello @CaseySJ your guide and your help is fantastic in the community, thanks.
I have a doubt, built with Designare, I9 .. etc .. My question is still GPU issue, I bought the 580RX.
But always comes to me the question of switching to a Radeon VII, my main use is Photoshop and Lightroon.
Switching to Radeon VII will I improve the performance of these applications?
Maybe other friends have already gone through the 580RX and bought the Radeon VII and can also tell me something about it.
Thanks

Hello @karimidos, this problem may be due to your BIOS setting:
  • Set Initial Display Output to PCIe 1 Slot instead of IGFX.

Hello @shallmc,

As you can see from my signature line below, I have only (a) Gigabyte Designare Z390 and (b) Asus X99 Deluxe II. Are you looking for a Thunderbolt hot-plug SSDT for your Z87X-UD7-TH motherboard?
