I'm building the same system (different case and cooling). Does it matter to which M.2 socket the SSD is connected? The seem to have same specs, right? Any advice?
Cheers

Does it matter to which M.2 socket the SSD is connected? No it's not. I have same build but M.2 Samsung 970 Pro first time I connected it to the port with heatsink. After I finished the OS installation, I changed to the other M.2 port still working the same.

Thx! The power supply arrives today, so it will be a busy evening. I hope everything works out well.
Cheers!

Hello!

4 days and 5 Hours later Success!!!
Multibeast refused to run as instructed. It kept stopping with a caution symbol and a statement that it was unable to complete the changes.
But, I manually copied the kexts to /L/E and rebuilt the cache. The drivers were copied from the Unibeast drive. And, config.plist also copied over. Fine tuning must come later. Time to go back to the day job for a while.

Worked on it for a while last night...

Completed the setup and, mostly everything works.

The only things not working at this point are:
- USB ports (I am working on the SSDT) Solved by following @UtterDisbelief 's very good guide.
- Wake from sleep (Will not always wake the monitor). Darkwake=0 is set which, to my understanding just prevents power nap from starting. I tried several FIXes. But since there is no single reference to what they do, it is just guesswork.
- The fans go completely wild for a few seconds during startup. But, spin back down after the log in screen appears.

Hello !
I'm planning to buy this exactly configuration because i want almost ZERO problems and a clean simple installation
(I'm a long time hackitosh user , but since every time updating is a pain in the ass, now I'm still on 10.12.6 and this time I want to buy ALL almost 100% compatibile HW )

the main difference with the topic configuration should be the
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
that I already own

the question is :
What I have to do to make everything working with ALSO my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti?
is it possibile without getting mad with nvidia drivers / quadro etcc??

Or is better to sell and buy another gfx? (I really hope not because I want also to play on a Window partition)

please help me
thank you!

Wait for Nvidia to release drivers.

No.
:banghead: thank you

so what you'll suggest?

is it possible to make it working anyway (after messing around) ?
at the moment I have it working on my 10.12.6 but i think is a bit unstable, and I really struggled to make it working :(

What card do you suggest ? can I take another NVIDIA or is better and more compatible a AMD card?
is so, which one (able to play AAA games and also Oculus Rift and VR games) ?

Check the buyer's guide. Radeon RX570 thru RX590 work great. With a little extra effort, Vega 56 and 64 will do anything you need done. You can even use SLI for a dual GPU setup... Just NOT with nVidia.

My understanding and experience point to a very clear answer of "Forget nVidia" on anything beyond High Sierra.
