Hey all,
Finally came into some funds to upgrade my 3 1/2 - 4 year old hackintosh. In that is an i7 4790K, a CoolerMaster MasterLiquid LC120e AIO Cooler, a Gigabyte H87 Micro ATX mobo, Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) 1600mhz & White Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) 1866mhz RAM for 32GB total, a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5" SATA boot SSD, & a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 960 Windforce 2GB GPU running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.
My upgrades I'm currently putting together are a Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming Micro ATX mobo, an Intel i5 8600K, White Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 3200mhz RAM, and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB PCIe NVME M.2 SSD and I'm keeping the same GPU for now, debating on grabbing an RX 470/480 or 570/580 on eBay or something.
Will these upgrade components that I currently have work in installing either OS X El Capitan, Sierra, or High Sierra (10.11.5, 10.12.5, & 10.13.5 respectively) with the GTX 960 I currently have and if so any link recommendations would be greatly appreciated! If it won't work with the 960, out of those 4 RX Radeon cards, RX 470, 480, 570, or 580 would anybody confidently recommend I grab on eBay or something for the most easiest compatible upgrade from Yosemite to one of those 3 OS's. Thanks for taking the time to read this insanely long post, lol, and thanks in advance for any advice and help! This system is currently being used as my daily driver for Post production audio for film and TV work like recording and editing dialogue, ADR, Foley & SFX, etc. in Pro Tools. Looking forward to seeing your responses and opinions/advice! Happy Hackintoshing!
