[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I notice you are using a Thunderbolt connection for your Gbps internet... the onboard ethernet ports don't work the same?
The screenshot is from my MacBook Air.

For some reason I can't change the settings to 1000mbps on the Designare, it just won't reconnect. So lame.
  • There are 2 Ethernet ports on the rear IO panel. Try switching the RJ45 cable to the other Ethernet port.
  • Post a screenshot of System Preferences --> Network --> Advanced --> Hardware
  • What are you using to measure speed of the wired connection?

Hey @CaseySJ, do you recommend using the platform ID 0x3E980003 even if I'm rocking a 9700K? Everything seems to be working fine with the original untouched 0x3E910003. I didn't even set this, it just automatically applied it.
Mojave automatically assigns an older Platform ID. There is no compelling reason to change, but if you're using SMBIOS iMac19,1 the preferred Platform ID is 0x3E980003.

The pmset log suggests that TeamViewer activity may have triggered the wake from sleep. Can you temporarily quit TeamViewer and test sleep?

Regarding the USB splitter:
  • The best way to share the internal F_USB header between internal and external USB devices is to purchase a 1-to-4 version of the splitter such as this one.
  • These 4-way splitters are amazingbecause:
    • Two of the USB connectors are assigned to HS11 and the other two USB connectors are assigned to HS12.
  • This allows you to connect 2 internal USB devices to either HS11 or HS12, and keep it separate from external USB devices.
  • Let's say you use HS11 for internal devices. Then we set the port type to 255 (0xFF) for HS11. And we set the port type to 0 for HS12.

Ok, I ordered the 1 to 4 splitter. Disabled Teamviewer and it woke from sleep again. Here is the file.

Checklist for Fenvi FV-T919:
  • Install SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml in CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder in the EFI partition of the Mojave SSD.
  • Connect the included Bluetooth data cable to F_USB port on the motherboard.
  • After both of the above are done:
    • Log in to Mojave.
    • Run IORegistryExplorer
    • Scroll the tree on left side pane until you see XHC. (Do not use the "search" field.)
      • Then look for HS11 or HS12 as a child node.
      • Do you see the word "Bluetooth" anywhere under HS11 or HS12?
    • You may also select File --> Save As... from IORegistryExplorer to save the IOReg tree. Then upload that file.

Sorry @CaseySJ i forgot to give you my wifi card version.

Good! This is an advantage.

Because you are upgrading from High Sierra to Mojave, I don't think a Time Machine restore is the correct procedure. Mojave has additional security/sandbox implementations. Mojave may have different folder hierarchies. (Catalina takes this further and creates a new "data" volume automatically and mounts the system in a read-only volume.)

Therefore my recommendation goes like this:
  • Format SSD4as APFS and connect to the system. Label it "Data" or "Mojave Data" or anything appropriate.
    • An external USB 3 2.5" SSD enclosure really helps.
  • Perform fresh installation of Mojave 10.14.5 SSD3.
    • Make a backup of SSD3 when post-installation is completed.
  • When Mojave is fully installed, open System Preferences --> Users & Groups, unlock the lower left padlock, right-click on your user name, select Advanced and change the home directory to SSD4.
  • Connect both SSD1 (High Sierra) and SSD3 (Mojave) at the same time (external USB 3 enclosures really help).
    • Use Migration Assistant to move Apps and Data to the new system.
    • Migration Assistant should be able to resolve the locations of the old and new home directories by itself.
Thoughts?

@CaseySJ,

I just gave it another read and was thinking that technically based on your thought 'whole system' type backups from time machine get invalidated once Mojave is in place. They are still good, but just for cherry picking (files, folders, etc ..). I'm wondering how it would have been done on a real Mac, through Migration assistance only?

Please do the following:
  • Post screen shot of System Preferences --> Energy Saver
  • Using Terminal, type the following line carefully or copy-and-paste:
    • sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.apple.PowerManagement.*
    • (Don't worry, these files will be re-created on next boot.)
  • After reboot, test Sleep by selecting it from the Apple Menu.
  • If computer wakes up suddenly, open Terminal again and enter:
    • sudo pmset -g proximitywake 0
    • sudo pmset -g hibernatemode 0
  • Test Sleep again from Apple menu.
    • If it fails, run this command again in Terminal and post the file SleepLog.txt from Documents folder:
    • pmset -g log | tail -100 > ~/Documents/SleepLog.txt

Oops, that card is not compatible with macOS! Only the Fenvi FV-T919 will work.

Edit: As @trs96 points out below, Fenvi has a lower cost model that is also natively supported: FV-HB1200.

There is also a newer Fenvi card that works. It's a laptop card though, not as fast as the T919.
Those that live in the EU can get it from Ebay seller cityeliter, which is Fenvi's Ebay store.
