Thanks for mentioning this. Unfortunately I have Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi which doesn't have a PS2 port. Is there a way to have USB Keyboard support? Struggling from 2 days on this thing. To install OSX on my new shiny wasted 970 EVO Plus, I need to update the firmware. Firmware doesn't install because of USB keyboard. Can't connect PS2 keyboard because the motherboard doesn't have a PS2 port. Searched a lot to tweak syslinux, but not able to find a solution yet. If you know, please help.

Have you tried different USB ports? looks like you have some USB 2.0 at the top are these the ones you are using? looks like USB 3.0 may not be supported only 2.0. I can not imagine that Samsung would release something that does not work with USB keyboards in this day and age. I have a Microsoft Ergo keyboard and it does not work to get into the BIOS need to have another keyboard to do that when setting stuff up. Maybe it is your keyboard what kind do you have.

OK here is the new status. Eventually what I did is that I installed Windows on a separate SSD and installed the Samsung Magician software and updated the 970 Plus firmware from there. It worked like a charm.

BUT and this is BIG BUT because the problem didn't go away when installing Mac on 970 Plus it keeps rebooting. I have tried creating macOS Extended (Journaled) partition as well as APFS. It keeps rebooting. So much to achieve nothing. Any suggestions? Because I am out of ideas now.

The problem with the EVO plus was that it would cause panics and reboot. Maybe the firmware upgrade did not stick to the drive. Either way you did not answer my question regarding the USB ports.

Is it true that with this firmware update, the EVO Plus will work on macOS, but without the speed/working benefits that differentiate it from the normal EVO?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Trying to install the SSD firmware for Samsung 970 EVO Plus but I'm getting stuck. After I made and bootable USB with the iso image, I plug it in, restart and the screen freezes like bellow.
Does anyone had this problem or do you guys have any suggestion on what have I done wrong? Any help is welcomed :)

hello~
Hope to ask:
Can the 2B2QEXM7 firmware update to Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD be done by Mac Pro running macOS operating system?
I have visited: https://unetbootin.github.io/
And have downloaded the Mac version UNetbootin.
I have run the Mac version UNetbootin tool on macOS operating system. Followed the following steps:
Select the Diskimage
Select the Samsung Firmware Utility ISO file (2B2QEXM7.iso) in Diskimage ISO.
Select USB Bootable Disk in Drive.
Click OK
Restart the Mac computer, and boot from USB pen drive by holding the option key on the keyboard at startup. However, I couldn’t be able to select the USB pen drive to boot to do the firmware update to Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD.

Is my procedure described above correct? Or the 2B2QEXM7 firmware update to Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD can only be conducted by a Windows PC computer?
Thanks

The way I did the firmware update was to mount the SSD into another PC and run the update from the BIOS.

I have the Samsung EVO 970 Plus 500GB, but the speed is very slow in High Sierra 10.13.6, but in windows is normal in same M.2 slot. Can you help me ?
I have ASUS Z370 TUF GAMING, I have APFS format, connected to the first M.2 near of CPU core i7 8xxx.

What Mobo do you have?

To follow up on this, I went with the 970 Plus. Two 1TB 970 Plus, one Windows, one macOS. Updating the firmware for both drives went smoothly. Just booted from USB stick, pressed "Y" a couple of times and done. I had Windows already installed on one drive before the upgrade while the other was untouched. No issues with either drive, no issues installing Mojave, no issues migrating 400 GB from my old Hack to the new drive (twice actually, because I made a mistake the first time). No issues with some heavy working for the past days. All fine. I can recommend using the 970 Plus with the new firmware.
Hi CitizenK and community! I have read through all theses posts (awesome!) and have a couple of questions/need advice. So, it sounds like the Samsung 970 Plus is now working on Mac laptops with the firmware upgrade. I have a mid 2014 MBpro 15" and want to upgrade the original Apple 1TB SSD with a 2 TB. I do a lot of Photo, video and music editing, storage and large photo, video and sound file folder slinging to and fro external usb drives. My photo library is approx 800+GB and growing. I like all my stuff on one drive as best as possible... Hence need the larger SSD.

Based on what I have read here, I think I have narrowed down to either the Samsung 970 Plus or the Western Digital WD Black SN750.

Questions: I have mid 2014 MBpro 15" Retina 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
-- Anyone have a recommendation for one over the other (or other) given my rig and use case (video, photo and music)?
-- Anyone have any concerns about compatibility/tried your SSD with Catalina beta yet? Any issues?
-- latest adapter preference?

Thanks again everyone for the awesome posts and would appreciate your advice!
